Project Manager, Integrated Planning & Operations (Nat Geo)

National Geographic is seeking a Project Manager to support the development and implementation of ambitious storytelling across the full spectrum of National Geographic's core topic areas, helping to ensure best-in-class execution on all platforms, from television to digital, social, magazines, books, consumer products, and travel.

Reporting jointly to the VP of Integrated Planning and the VP of Multi-Platform Content, this Project Manager will have a significant focus on overseeing the management of integrated planning governance and projects.

Candidates must be able to lead highly matrixed, cross-functional teams, streamline processes, and foster collaboration. This role is responsible for developing the methods and models for tracking a project's steps and dependencies, including negotiating timelines and deliverables with colleagues in higher positions. This person also will be accountable for reporting the progress of projects to senior leadership. Candidates must have professional presence and experience leading by influence rather than control and the Emotional Intelligence to obtain results from diverse stakeholders.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Lead the coordination of multiple projects simultaneously across lines of business, including stakeholder management, establishing launch timelines, tracking the development of each project, identifying and solving dependencies, and managing the execution of deliverables.
• Lead the coordination of the development of Editorial stories that align with Nat Geo's priorities, including text, photo, video, immersives, mapping, and other deliverables.
• Lead the development and management of a content calendar for all Nat Geo content across platforms, in alignment with Content Development, Editorial, Marketing, Brand, and Disney Tentpole priorities.
• Be responsible for collecting, archiving and distributing of project artifacts.
• Track progress throughout the duration of a project with a mindfulness toward dependencies.
• Regularly communicate project status, progress, and outcomes to key stakeholders, providing timely updates and managing expectations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5+ years of professional experience in Project Management or Program Management or a similar role within entertainment, media, or digital content organizations.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail.
• Knowledge of creative deliverables for social, websites, video, and linear productions.
• Track record of collaborating with a large and varied group of cross-functional teams and partners to tackle ambiguous problems and make forward progress.
• Strong ability to multi-task and easily context-switch in a fast-paced and ever-evolving organization with multiple work streams and projects.
• Strong process orientation with solid organizational skills.
• Adept at establishing trusting relationships with both internal and external partners.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals.
• Proven track record of presenting to and influencing senior management.
• Proficiency in project management tools, content management systems, and analytics platforms.
• Passion and commitment to diversity and inclusion, inviting diverse perspectives, and promoting an inclusive work environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism/Media, or a related field is preferred as is an understanding of the process of story development.
• PMP Certification or similar is strongly preferred.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY or Washington, DC is $94,800 to $130,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
