Associate Manager, Social Media - Editorial & Special Projects (National Geographic)

As the Associate Manager, Social Media (Editorial & Special Projects) at National Geographic, you will be responsible for assisting managers and senior managers with supporting daily management of platforms and campaigns for National Geographic editorial stories and titles with best-in-class creative social stunts, community strategies, as well as creative asset development.

We are looking for a passionate social strategist who has a strong editorial background and visual eye, as well as experience with social marketing campaigns, managing communities, and managing busy timelines.

Excelling in this role requires a knowledge of what is trending/current on social, a passion for learning about strategy, planning for insights-driven global strategies, a deep and current knowledge of each platform's offerings, how to best utilize influencers, the ability to manage talent and foster communities, a keen eye for compelling and innovative content, and excellent project management skills. You will work with and on key social media and digital platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp-as well as seek out emerging platforms that can help grow our fan base and brand.

Responsibilities:
• Support in the daily management and overall growth of Nat Geo editorial accounts
• Support social managers/sr. managers and work closely with editorial and marketing teams to create high impact, conversation-driving content for editorial, magazine, and show projects
• Assist managers and senior managers with contributor and influencer management.
• Advise on creative development of social content by giving creative direction and feedback, along with securing final approvals and sign-off.
• Advise on, communicate, and implement best social media practices as it pertains to editorial stories and titles.
• Evolve tactics throughout daily management and in each campaign as new data emerges.
• Partner with marketing and editorial teams on talent social training, onset social capture, live social media event coverage, digital activations and paid media creative, influencer activations etc.

Basic Qualifications:
• 3+ years of social media marketing experience
• A strong editorial/journalism ethics background
• Advanced visual eye (for photography and videography)
• Experience managing communities and talent
• Experience analyzing analytics and making data-informed decisions.
• Ability to support multiple campaigns at once
• Deep understanding of social platforms
• Team-first mentality
• Creative, proactive and independent thinking
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines-time management is essential.
• Strong creative writing skills
• Effective communication skills in both verbal and written form
• Ability to build and manage relationships
• Detail oriented
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Keynote
• Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
• Experience with social media content management systems

Education:
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience
