Job Description

The FX TD at MPC Film works with FX Leads to determine the required tooling for a project and supports the artists to throughout to delivery. Collaboration within a team, and creative problem-solving are a must.

Key Responsibilities:
• Standardize workflows by creating templates and tools in Houdini.
• Take ownership of a wide range of VFX (fire, smoke, magic, electricity, explosions, etc.) using various. techniques.
• Work with FX Leads to ensure timely completion of VFX.
• Technical setup, integration, and troubleshooting of VFX.
• Serve as an active participant in team art discussions, critiques, and reviews.

Qualifications

Experience:

Proven experience working in film, cinematic, games, or equivalent education/work experience.

Requirements:
• Experience crafting feature film quality FX using Houdini
• Strong VEX Skills
• Good understanding of Houdini python API / Hython
• A prior understanding of physics and animation timing.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong automation skills

Pluses:
• Maya experience
• Katana experience
• Renderman experience
• pyQT or pySide2 Knowledge
• Experience creating procedural shaders using various shader languages.
• Experience working with volumetric and liquid simulations.
• Ability to build FX concept art.
• Compositing experience with Nuke.
