Sr. Systems Administrator

Job Description

Working with peers in Los Angeles, Vancouver and other Method studios to deploy systems to
studios to enhance and sustain the production environment. The candidate requires both people
skills and extensive expertise in systems administration and architecture along with software
development. The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for collaborating with
Software departments and global systems teams to design the future architecture in addition to
evaluating and integrating third-party solutions for hardware, software, and workflow for
maintenance of operations across a multi-site world class visual effects facility.

Responsibilities and Duties

 Active participation on a global technology committee
 Ensuring all platforms are continually maintained and improved
 Act as a senior point of technical escalation to other technology teams
 Work closely with Software architecture and development teams
 Develop and deploy what is commonly known as "Devops"; toolsets

Qualifications
 Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems or comparable professional

experience

 Minimum 8 years experience in a professional systems environment
 Programming experience with at least one of Python, Perl, Bash, C/C++, Java or similar
 Ability to convince others of the merits of your designs and get their buy-in
 Ability to supervise and mentor others, while providing appropriate feedback
 Advanced knowledge of Linux server and desktop environments
 Solid knowledge of OSX and Windows platforms
 Experience building and operating high availability and high scalability computing
systems
 Experience building and managing cloud environments
 Experience with VMware, Acropolis or OpenStack virtual infrastructures
 Knowledge of SQL and noSQL databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
 Ability and desire to learn new technologies as required
 Ability to solve problems unsupervised and recommend proactive technical solutions
 Positive can-do attitude combined with the ability to work under pressure to meet
deadlines
 Excellent communication and organizational skill with strong attention to detail

 Experience related to disaster recovery and business continuity
