Job Summary:

The Marvel Editorial Team is seeking to hire a pop culture, digital, brand, and franchise expert in the role of Editor. This role will be responsible for the creation, curation, and strategy for content for Marvel.com, and so must be an expert with a deep knowledge of the Marvel Universe, its characters, and larger fandom; it's preferred that they also have a knowledge of Marvel comics, books, games, consumer products, digital apps, and more.

Responsibilities:
• Ideate, write, edit, manage, and publish editorial content across the Marvel.com website.
• Work in close partnership with the wider Digital Team (Social, Content, and Content Distribution & Programming) to ensure delivery of copy and assets for linear amplification across Marvel and Disney brand social channels.
• Support the evergreen brand editorial strategy for titles out of window and long-term sustainment that aligns with audience development goals.
• Liaison with both internal and external partners and advise on Marvel Brand Guidelines as needed.
• Identify larger TWDC priorities and work towards an ongoing strategy to hit key beats and priorities.
• Manage planning, coordination, and execution of written news content, including press releases, trailers and posters, on-sale messaging, and other ad hoc requests as needed.
• Partner with LOBs across TWDC and provide editorial guidance to ensure balance and synergy across all stakeholders within the Marvel portfolio.
• Support best practices for SEO initiatives, with a focus on amplifying both trending news and evergreen content.
• Provide ongoing site maintenance with the ability to troubleshoot problems as needed.
• Provide on-site management support for red carpets, press junkets, conventions, and special events.
• Actively interpret high-level analytics to drive actionable optimization, future content, and tactics
• Participate in content brainstorms for developing ideas with editorial, social media, and video production teams.
• Help develop editorial strategy and research topics as needed to aid in editorial content for Marvel.com.

Duties of the role

Editorial Execution
• Manage assigned editorial beats within the Marvel Editorial team, working in close partnership with the wider Digital Team
• Support evergreen brand editorial content that aligns to content strategy, audience development goals, and authentically reaches a diverse portfolio of fans while staying true to the Marvel brand, values, and commitment to quality
• Manage planning, coordination, and execution of written news and editorial content for Marvel.com; this includes writing, developing, and editing content for sites, news releases, and newsletters, as well as ideating and assigning stories to contributors as needed
• Provide on-site management support for red carpets, press junkets, conventions, and special events for amplification on Marvel.com

Editorial Strategy
• Using data, develop and rollout long-term editorial strategy plans for content both in and out of window for sustainment
• Support larger TWDC priorities and work towards an ongoing strategy to hit key beats and priorities.
• Stakeholders & Priorities
• Liaise with assigned stakeholders regularly to understand key priorities for amplification and support, and ensure the successful adoption and launch of campaign
• Frame and provide input into editorial content mix to ensure balance and synergy across all priorities and key dates within Marvel portfolio
• Reference the Marvel brand guidelines and larger Digital Strategy when developing editorial calendars, ensuring efforts are consistent with the brand voice, style, and tone

Contributors & Research
• Give guidance and recommendations to both external contractor contributors and internal partners on Digital Editorial Strategy within the context of the larger Marvel Editorial content strategy, brand voice, and franchise guidelines
• Participate in content brainstorms for developing ideas with editorial, social media, and video production teams
• Help develop editorial plans and research topics as needed to aid in editorial content for Marvel.com

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Basic Qualifications:
• At least 5 years of professional experience in Entertainment and/or Editorial
• A degree in Communications, Marketing or English is preferred
• Experience writing for an established entertainment outlet, website, or publication
• Intimate knowledge of the Marvel brand, its characters, its history, and the Marvel Universe
• Knowledge and expertise in web-based publishing, content management systems, and content creation tools, including Adobe Photoshop.
• Experience working with a team in different locations/time zones as well as working with remote freelancers.
• Ability to be proactive, multi-task, and work on a number of projects at once independently

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $102,000 - $136,700 per year. The hiring range for this position in NYC is $106,800 - $143,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
