Job Description
We are looking for a Sr. Photo Editor who reflects the innovative spirit, creative talent, and passion for great storytelling and filmmaking that define Lucasfilm.

The Sr Photo Editor is responsible for aspects of the Still Photography process, under guidance and direction of the Project Manager. This role has oversight to the creative aspects and integrity of photo captures on all Live Action shows from production through release. Primary responsibilities per show are to hire and onboard photographers, remotely review and provide feedback on incoming photography, edit photos to service requests from internal and third party partners, and ensure legal/clearance/union standards are met.

This role also partners with other Photo Editors on the team to prioritize capture needs and provide photo direction. During Post-Production, assist with ILM Image Unit and photo labs to prioritize render needs and provide creative direction.

What you'll do
• Lead the initiative to hire and onboard photographers (review portfolios, present to filmmakers, negotiate rate including union regulations, provide onboard training). Check-in regularly with photographers to maintain relationship and address any concerns/needs. Seek to understand proper legal/copyright clearance rights, and ensure union regulations are being met. Ensure photography is being properly credited in digital asset system.
• Edit and quality-control photography across all Lucasfilm Live Action productions. Update descriptive metadata in asset management system as necessary.
• Assist in the processing and servicing of requests for photography on current Lucasfilm Live Action productions for Lucasfilm and third parties.
Organize photography in alignment with Asset Menu and assist communication with Story to ensure proper understanding.
• During Post-Production, bid and award work to outside photo labs, ensuring content security, quality, and competitive pricing. Partner with ILM Image Unit to prioritize render needs, provide creative direction and manage schedule of deliverables.
• Provide input to Project Manager to ascertain if photo shoots are necessary based on understanding of individual character roles and schedules/logistics (particularly for distance locations).
• Can direct photography to ensure it is creatively meeting company needs.
• Assist with administrative tasks and special projects as assigned.

What we're looking for
• Bachelor's degree in photography, digital medial or visual arts, or equivalent experience preferred
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as Photo Editor or Photographer.
• Photo Editing experience at a motion picture studio, photo agency, major editorial publication highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to work in high volume, fast paced production environment. Quick thinking, precise decision making and problem solving skills a must.
• Extremely good eye for detail and ability to ensure a consistent high quality image
• Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to multi-task while prioritizing daily activities
• Strong adherence to deadlines
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and highly collaborative
• Must be highly self-sufficient and resourceful
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Preferred Skills/Competencies:
• Experience communicating with publicists about press / PR needs
• Understanding of on-set production roles
• Experience communicating with filmmakers
• Technical Skills:
• Experience working with Digital Asset Management systems.
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite software with excellent Photoshop skills (including basic retouching skills).
