ILM is opening its Mumbai studio in the fall of 2022. The youngest of all the ILM studios, the India studio leverages the expertise and technological know-how developed over 40 years at Industrial Light & Magic combined with the top artists and technicians in the region. Knowledge and culture flow freely between the company's five studios and the global team shares tools and workflow allowing for seamless partnership on all shared projects.
As we grow ILM Mumbai, we are seeking a Manager, Finance & Accounting to join as one of the first members of the team and be a part of building the studio and its technology infrastructure.
The Manager of Finance & Accounting will oversee the managing &/or performing of activities necessary to provide finance and accounting assistance to the ILM Mumbai studio. They will have primary accountability for a full range of accounting & finance functions including Annual Operating Plans & Forecasts, monthly GL close, accounts payable, payroll, statutory reporting, audits, management reporting and taxes. Since the studio is new, the role will be integral to establishing accounting processes and internal controls in accordance with GAAP and Disney worldwide policies with help and guidance from the other ILM studio's Finance and Accounting teams.
What You'll Do
Forecasts/Planning - Coordinate with local management & US FP&A to prepare the Annual Operating Plans, quarterly forecasts, capital budgets and long-range plans
Month End Close/Management Reporting -- Manages the month-end close ensuring all necessary accounting processes are complete, journal entries posted and accounts reconciled. Provides Executive in Charge with monthly management accounts variance analysis and commentary related to capital and operating expenses
Accounts Payable - Perform/oversee duties related to the accounts payable function including reviewing invoices, obtaining approvals, tracking purchase orders, managing credit cards and payment processing
Payroll – Partner with HR and external payroll provider to ensure payrolls are done accurately and timely. Ensure payroll files uploaded to GL. Ensure all necessary payroll liabilities are tracked and recorded, as applicable (example: Vacation or Gratuity obligations). Ensure necessary payroll taxes and withholds remitted. Manage weekly H2G timecard submission (for Cost Accounting).
Fixed Assets – perform/oversee duties related to Fixed Assets including preparing monthly additions & disposals; running depreciation, reconciling FA ledger to GL, booking USD historical FX true ups, periodic inventories and working with local IT to ensure Assets are properly tagged.
Statutory & Other Tax Reporting - Ensuring ILM Mumbai compliance with local statutory account, tax and other reporting requirements.
Provide additional documentation as required for statutory reports and act as the main point of contact to external auditors
Coordinate and file required VAT/GST returns and
Coordinate and provide assistance to external tax providers, ILM US and Disney tax for annual tax returns or other special tax filings (R&D/Grants/Payroll/Fringe Benefit/Transfer Pricing, if applicable)
Production Accounting Collaboration – role will include local oversight of a Production Accountant that will have dual reporting to Production Accounting management in other ILM studios. Work closely and coordination with worldwide Production Accounting and familiarization with Production Accounting reports & tools will be important to not only ensure the local Production Accountant is being adequately mentored but also ensures the Finance Manger is aware of the operational impact production cost tracking and capacity management has on the financial success of the company.
Complete special projects and AD Hoc reports, as assigned
Prepare intercompany billings in accordance with transfer pricing agreements
Manage key relationships with Disney India local and regional offices
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
CPA/CA or local equivalent with significant post qualification experience
Eight or more years related finance/accounting &/or audit experience including proven track record of managing a team
Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities must be continually reevaluated and adapted as possible.
Strong communication skills to establish effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Must be flexible and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Diplomacy, discretion, confidentiality, versatility and reliability are critical
Ability to operate well in an environment of change and occasional ambiguity
Ability to guide and explain to non-finance people financial requirements, procedures and rules.
Preferred Skills/Competencies:
Knowledge of US GAAP (books maintained in accordance with US GAAP for Walt Disney consolidated reporting/Statutory reporting for standalone entity will be local GAAP)
Project Accounting and/or prior entertainment industry experience a plus.
Experience with local GST/VAT reporting and filing requirements
Experience working with government agencies a plus
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Windows, Excel and MS Word
Experience with Oracle and SAP, preferred
Experience with enterprise planning software (Cognos Tm1 preferred)
