Job Description
Position Summary

As an Animator QC, you will hold an entry level position supporting the animation team in delivering high end performances for Visual Effects, Television and Feature Animation projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn and hone your animation skills by working closely with our talented artists, but will also allow you to deepen your technical knowledge and skills by exposing you to the animation pipeline, as well as many aspects of the overall studio production pipeline. This position takes direction from the Animation Supervisor and/or Lead Animators, and you will also work closely with artists, production, members of the Pipeline team and the CG Supervisors where needed.

What you'll do
• Providing technical animation fixes (such as foot contact, intersection fixes and minor animation tweaks) without modifying the overall performance.
• Working closely with animators to support them in debugging issues arising in scene files during animation.
• Where needed, helping to deliver caches to downstream departments, including helping to troubleshoot issues that arise during the process.
• Assisting with Quality Control as shots move in and out of the Animation department, and flagging any issues with the relevant teams.
• Understanding the processes of adjoining departments, such as Assets and Layout, and providing input where required to support efficient workflows.
• Regularly communicating with Animation and CG Supervisors as well as Production, and in particular flagging any issues arising that might affect the delivery schedule.
• Providing feedback to ensure that tools and workflows support the creative process.
• Creating and updating documentation that supports Technical Animation processes.

What we're looking for
• Good knowledge of Maya, in particular animating characters and cameras.
• Basic understanding of traditional animation techniques and the principles of character motion.
• Broad understanding of and interest in the shot pipeline as a whole, and how animation fits into it.
• Experience using the Linux operating environment is a bonus.
• Passionate about film.
• Organised and methodical in your approach to the work.
• Calm under pressure and capable of delivering to short deadlines.
• A strong, clear communicator, with great listening skills.
• A positive, can-do attitude.
• Highly motivated.
• Know the limitations of your knowledge (e.g., technical, aesthetic, soft skills, etc.) and seek expert advice when appropriate.
• Manage expectations of those reporting into.
• Can be directly responsible for a specific body of work on a show.
• To remain agile when needing to adjust the plan where and when asked.
• Willing to learn and able to problem-solve in a technical environment.
• Organised and proactive team-player with strong communication skills.
