Pay Rate: $28.00 - $30.00/hour*
Reports to: Vice President, Government Affairs & Community Relations
*Compensation rates vary based on job-related factors, including experience, job skills, education, and training.
The Government Affairs & Community Relations Specialist will work on a range of the Dodgers government affairs and neighborhood initiatives. This includes managing the neighbor newsletter and ticket distribution program, tracking metrics related to community impact, managing appropriate government agency collaborations (e.g. voter registration activations), managing pregame elements for certain game day ticket pack initiatives (e.g. firefighter appreciation), legislative tracking (city, county, state, and federal), and providing ongoing research, analysis, and tracking of current government affairs related departmental initiatives.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Manage the neighborhood ticket distribution program and CRM.
• Update and manage the neighborhood newsletter and corresponding website to ensure accuracy.
• Support pre and post season neighbor meetings including reserving necessary spaces, ordering all necessary supplies, preparation of meeting agendas, and preparation of presentation materials.
• Provide research and support for all government affairs related task forces, meetings, and working groups.
• Coordinate all government affairs meetings and initiatives with various government agencies and provide collaboration and support preparing powerpoint/canva presentations as needed.
• Manage and lead Law Enforcement Appreciation, Firefighter Appreciation, Union Night, and Metro Night pregame elements in partnership with the marketing and production departments.
• Prepare meetings with relevant consulates ahead of all heritage nights and collaborate with marketing and production to facilitate collaborations.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to coordinate civic engagement events/opportunities for internal and external stakeholders.
• Track data and impacts for all Community initiatives as assigned.
• Create detailed reports on program areas, including but not limited to quantifiable analysis of program impacts on an ongoing basis.
• Update Yearbook and Media Guide sections annually for assigned areas.
• Create pre and post event planning action items, including internal and external communications in advance to all parties as required and briefing memos for all events and after-action reports at the conclusion of the event.
• Prepare web copy updates as needed in a timely fashion.
• Assist with pre-game and game day on-field activities including batting practice visits, meet and greet visits, auction experiences, and player support as needed.
• Manage individual event budgets and expenses as assigned.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other variable hours as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements/Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree Required. Political Science, Pre-Law, or related field strongly preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish (verbal and written) strongly preferred.
• Minimum two years' experience in government affairs (certain fellowships will be considered depending on length of service and program).
• Proven ability to successfully manage an event from start to finish – from ideation through execution of the event/program.
• Ability to draft external correspondence to government entities and partners with ability to write routine detailed reports.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and maintain flexibility when working on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines.
• Goal oriented, self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in tandem with internal and external customers, building deeper relations with residents, civic and business leaders, and volunteers.
• Able to work independently, creatively, with initiative and accurately within specific deadlines.
• Ability to work efficiently in a large communal front office atmosphere and work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others
