The Role:

Roc Nation is seeking a VP, Business & Legal Affairs - Music Label, who will report to the CEO of Roc Nation. The position is based in our New York City headquarters and will play a critical role in the future growth and success of the most influential sports and entertainment agency in the world – Roc Nation. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, highly motivated individual who functions with confidence and expertise in a fast-paced and rapidly changing business environment.

Responsibilities:
• Oversight of all music label division legal affairs; Advise and counsel the CEO, and label division Co-President's regarding day-to-day legal and business issues.
• Structure, draft and negotiate various music and entertainment industry related agreements, exclusive recording agreements, talent management agreements, music publishing agreements, content license agreements, confidentiality agreements, services agreements, independent contractor agreements, promotion agreements, publishing agreements, and other agreements related generally to the music industry.
• Coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
• Coordinate with other areas of internal legal counsel.
• Develop and maintain a repository of legal resources that are required for company business needs.
• Organizing and maintaining a record-keeping system of the company's music label legal and transactional documents.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Current active member, in good standing, of the New York State Bar or out-of-state bar association with eligibility to register as in-house counsel.
• Must have a J.D. degree, and a minimum of 7 years of relevant, legal experience at a large law firm where you specifically specialized in the music industry/or in house entertainment or content distribution company.
• Experience in the following areas: copyright, music related rights, content distribution, licensing, entertainment, media and internet law.

Requirements:
• Knowledge of the music and overall entertainment industries and related legal trends and business practices.
• Ability to multi-task, cover a high volume of deals, and work independently to structure, negotiate and expeditiously close both simple and complex transactions.
• Draft, review, manage and negotiate contracts, licenses and intellectual property agreements for the music label division
• Respond promptly to legal requests for internal and external parties as it relates to the music label.
• A strong work ethic with an eye toward action, change, speed and revenue growth strategies.
