THE JOB

The Tax and Consumer Claims Lawyer provides leadership and counseling on Tax and Consumer Claims matters. Reports to the Legal Manager. On-site job based in the local office in São Paulo, Brazil.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
• Lead implementation of strategic tax planning (direct and indirect) and drive discussions with business partners related to risk and rewards of business decisions.
• Establish strategies to minimize tax expense and exposures regarding taxes paid for federal, state, and city.
• Build relationships with internal Tax, Finance, Legal, HR, and business leaders as well as external advisors to ensure complete and timely flow of information and effective resolution of tax matters.
• Assist with income tax matters, including data gathering, research and analysis of applicable tax laws, and ensuring company compliance with tax reporting/filing requirements.
• Advise cross-functional teams and other departments on the tax impacts of business transactions.
• Compose correspondence, opinions and memoranda involving all areas of federal, state and local, and international taxation.
• Oversee audits of federal and state income tax and state and local filings
• Provide timely updates to management on tax law changes impacting the company and effectively manage the required changes to processes and controls mandated by those changes to the law.
• Business support: Identify relevant tax issues, conducting necessary tax / legal research to address it, and engaging external counsel to provide specific tax advice
• Oversee all ongoing tax processes conducted by several Law Firms.
• Oversee, liaise, and fulfil requirements of any external tax audit.

CONSUMER CLAIMS
• Respond to Consumer Claims and oversee cases conducted by Law Firms.
• Provide litigation support for consumer matters.
• Provide advice so that Live Nation to promote best practices and prevent future lawsuits.
• Interact as needed with Procons, Codecons, ReclameAqui and other consumer entities to ensure a positive perception of company actions towards consumer rights.
• Act at hearings and administrative appeals to respond and present defense for consumer claims.

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING

Required:
• Education: Juris Doctor required; LL.M. in Tax preferred
• The candidate should have at least 6 years of relevant tax experience with a law firm, Big 4 firm, or in industry, with specific responsibility for tax controversy matters, planning and advice.
• Experience in Accounting preferred.
• Current or past experience with Consumer Cases.
• Knowledge of accounting is a plus.
• Full fluency in English
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and pro-active personality including ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
• Strong ownership and accountability skills.
• Strong technical tax, research and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite and tax law research resources.
