THE JOB

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is independent, fast-learning, self-starter and provides technical leadership and mentoring to engineers within the team - responsible for translating business objectives into technical solutions and there by building, delivering and maintaining the products.

This role will envision the technical aspects and solutions for the future landscape of globalizing the products.  This role is a great opportunity to grow your technical/leadership skills and deliver highly impactful products that help millions of fans to experience live events.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
• Participate in development work across globally distributed software teams.
• Ensure applicability of global applications to global markets.
• Ability to organize, prioritize; multitask
• Connect with a series of stakeholders in order to gather as much information as possible regarding the problem at hand and provide technical recommendations and sizing.
• Objectively explore multiple approaches and recommend the best technical direction including logic and reasoning.
• Meaningful participation in web, native app architecture design.
• Spike and prototype.
• Write exemplary code.
• Own the full development and deployment cycle for your software.
• Encourage and mentor Junior Engineers in their craft.
• Have advanced troubleshooting techniques and resolve problems as they occur, often not your own code.
• Automate testing, deployments, performance, and recovery.
• Focus on building software, keeping in mind the main principles of performance, flexibility, and platform scalability.
• Ensure code is reliable, maintainable and fully tested.
• Focus on accessibility to ensure the site is inclusive of all our fans.
• Actively participate in gathering and validating technical requirements for the project.
• Seek opportunities to try out new ideas and solutions.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)
• Passionate about designing, implementing and maintaining products
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering
• Minimum 5+ years of web application development experience
• Expert knowledge of JavaScript, common design patterns and gotchas of the language
• Up to date with the latest standards.
• You have expert knowledge of React and common libraries and frameworks in the React ecosystem such as Webpack, Formik and react testing utilities alongside Jest. Experience with Redux and ReactiveX is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of debugging and measuring performance of JavaScript applications.
• Advanced knowledge of the various layout specs such as flexbox and grid.
• Ability to Architect a highly flexible CSS architecture with theming at its core.
• Detailed experience with cross-browser and device testing
• Understand the importance of Accessibility and champion standards' compliance.
• Able to liaise with design and UX to ensure accessibility is considered from the start of the development process.
• Components built will be accessible for everyone, including those with the need to use assistive technologies.
• Able to use tools to audit and fix accessibility issues and suggest improvements to the rest of the team.
• Experience writing both unit and integration tests using libraries such as 'react-testing-library'.
• Experience writing end-to-end tests.
• Experience setting up testing frameworks and are able to share with the team the pros and cons of different types of testing (unit, integration, e2e, etc.).
• Experience working in a dev-ops environment 
• Experience working with NodeJS is highly preferred
• Experience working with serverless technology is a major plus
• Solid understanding and experience with service oriented and micro-service architectures
• Experience in Agile & Lean Development Experience
• Public Cloud experience preferably in AWS
• Maintain or contribute to open-source software projects
• Familiarity with one or more scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Perl or Bash.
• Experience in evaluating technical feasibility of a project, work breakdown and providing estimates on effort and risk.
