Job Description
THE JOB

The Production Manager is responsible for all of the on-stage, backstage and other technical details of concerts and events. Includes advancing and obtaining presale technical information, including production needs, rider requirements, staging and capacity changes .

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
• Responsible for all production related elements in the venue and for over 200+ events/year
• Handle all advance planning and coordination with artist/tour production members of the following:
• technical elements of shows/events
• staffing needs
• merchandise sales planning
• food, beverage/hospitality requirements
• hotels
• parking needs, arranging with the City of Grand Rapids when necessary
• meet and greets
• gym passes, healthcare services (IV therapy, massage, etc)
• Handle all show settlement and show accounting duties including artist settlement, purchases, invoice submission, etc.
• Order and reconcile all show cash
• Create and maintain department labor schedules for shows/events and department maintenance (audio, lights, stage, etc.)
• Create and maintains daily, weekly and monthly show schedule
• Create and maintain daily band cost spreadsheet
• Attend weekly production meetings as set by the General Manager and be prepared to speak on technical needs of each event/show
• Must be able to lead large teams of people and communicate clearly needs of the day
• Manage day-of-event stage, sound, and lighting crews
• Must be able to directly line manage a production coordinator and a hospitality coordinator
• Ensure safety procedures are followed and maintained by all team members at all times
• Create and maintain inventory and maintenance log
• Plan for and record maintenance of audio, lighting, backline and video systems in addition to advising on repairs when needed
• Responsible for safe and consistent operation of all equipment
• Advise on design and purchase of site lighting systems (patio, restaurant, etc.)
• Handle interviewing, hiring and onboarding of production employees (audio, lighting, stage manager, stage hand, production assistant, runner)
• Organize and lead on site employee training and educational events
• Responsible for documenting and delivering disciplinary actions to production crew
• Maintain and continually improve department manuals and training materials for all production positions
• Operate within budgetary requirements and track the financial aspects of department, ensuring all procedures are cost effective
• Maintain regular communications with Venue General Manager, Venue Department Managers and Corporate Management
• Work closely with Director of Sales to ensure execution of Special Events including pre-event walk throughs and client calls
• Work closely with and share information about artist/tour requirements with Operations Manager
• Communicate with team members in positive and informative manner
• Provide operational feedback with Talent Buyer
• Maintain ''past show'' files
• Maintains relationships with local and national production vendors and keeps accurate vendor records

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING

Required:
• Flexible Schedule (days/nights, late hours, weekends, and holidays)
• Minimum 3 years prior production management experience in an entertainment venue
• 3 years minimum Tour and Stage Production experience
• Strong people skills with an emphasis on competent and diplomatic communication with tour/production manager representatives
• Experience in stage lighting, pro audio systems and basic video systems
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to make clear concise decisions, sometimes with limited information
• Computer literate in Windows applications
• Must possess superior interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• High School Diploma
• Tolerance of all cultures, music and art forms

Preferred:
• Some College or College Degree in related field
• Point of Sales knowledge
• Behavioral Based Interviewing Skills
• Cash handling experience
• Experience in a live music environment

Physical Demands/Working Environment:
• Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays
• Working environment is fast-paced and often loud and stressful
• Position requires extended periods of prolonged standing, lifting, bending, reaching, and working on your feet
• Must be able to lift or move up to 75 lbs using proper lifting techniques
• Tolerance of loud noise level in working environment
• Able to wear a radio earpiece during the scheduled shift
