Job Description
THE ROLE:
The Chief Technology Officer of Venue Nation is a key leadership role. This role blends execution and vision – the CTO will partner with business leaders to develop the technology strategy for the various concerts businesses in North America, and then will actively oversee deployment and support of these various technologies. In particular, the role will oversee technology in North American amphitheaters, theaters and clubs; oversee Concert-focused internal business systems; The CTO will focus on execution largely in year one. Top priorities for year in year one are ongoing deployment Pax Point of Sale hardware & conversion to new food & beverage point of sale platform for the majority of Live Nation's indoor venues across the US; additionally, the CTO will focus on Year 1 deployment of a multi-venue, multi-year venue network refresh & upgrade strategy across US venues; As such, The CTO will need experience leading large-scale projects and processes, with a hands-on, proactive style, and will need to travel to different venues to ensure smooth & effective delivery.
Thereafter, s/he will then shift to more forward thinking strategies and solutions, serving as a catalyst for change, while continuing to oversee ongoing deployment and support. There is a desire to introduce new technologies that enhance the customer experience, and the business needs a technical thought leader for this process, who can also lead execution after setting the strategy. CTO will need to be able to work closely with non-technical business leaders, as the CTO will lead the interaction between this technology team and the various Venue businesses in North America. S/he will need to exhibit sound executive judgment and business savvy, helping executives who are not proficient in technology make sound decisions and trade-offs.
The CTO will need to have experience building teams. The CTO will oversee a +/- 45 person team. In addition, CTO will collaborate with technology teams in the Ticketmaster business unit and partner with third parties such as Cisco, Salesforce, etc.
IDEAL EXPERIENCES:
• Significant experience (15+ years) as a group-level or large divisional CIO/CTO with responsibility for overall IT strategy, software development, business applications, infrastructure, data communications, and voice solutions for a large, complex, fast paced, and dynamic company.
• Hands-on experience leading complex IT projects, supporting business executives and being a strong constructive member of senior management.
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial approach to business process, balancing control with flexibility, procedure with simplicity, and willingness to innovate and change while creating an environment of rigor and discipline.
• Depth of knowledge around IT standards, process, software, infrastructure and systems. Successful past accountability for applications/software development, infrastructure and support, including the management of successful systems development, implementation and integration projects.
• Experience leading technology in physical environments, where issues of network connectivity and physical interaction with technology systems (such as point-of-sale) are crucial, and experience integrating many different technology systems in a single environment

While working with others, this executive will need to have the competence to be a fairly autonomous, self-directed leader. He/she is someone who invests in building relationships with others and effectively uses the informal structure and culture of an organization to get things done.
• Strategic Orientation. The CTO will have a forward thinking perspective with a well-informed point of view on the changing role of information technology in supporting and enabling the business, and will define a roadmap to achieve the CEO's vision of Live Nation as a technology innovator in the concerts business. He/she will have a strong grasp of business fundamentals and create the bridge between technology strategy and business strategy. He/she will have the capacity to clearly communicate to non-technical audiences and the ability to translate complex technology issues into terms that inform decision makers.
• Team Leadership. The candidate will have excellent leadership skills, as evidenced by a track record of hiring, retaining, developing and motivating top-tier technical and operations talent; providing an inspiring translation of a business strategy into specific IT objectives; building strong relationships based on trust with peers; and, a track record of personal engagement with customers, partners and suppliers.
