CA-Show Technician FX

The FX Show Technician will be responsible for designing, setting up, and operating various special effects for live shows and events, including pyrotechnics, lasers, fog machines, and other visual and auditory effects. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of special effects equipment and technology, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with show producers, directors, and designers to develop and execute special effects for live shows and events.
• Design and set up special effects equipment and systems, including pyrotechnics, smoke machines, lasers, and lighting.
• Operate and maintain special effects equipment during shows and events, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with special effects equipment and systems during shows and events.
• Coordinate with other technicians, stagehands, and performers to ensure smooth and efficient execution of special effects.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols related to special effects.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required; degree or certification in a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in special effects production, including designing and operating special effects equipment for live shows and events.
• In-depth knowledge of special effects equipment and technology, including pyrotechnics, lasers, fog machines, and other visual and auditory effects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with a team of technicians, performers, and producers.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety, with a thorough understanding of safety regulations related to special effects.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift heavy equipment, up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in high-pressure environments and in close proximity to loud noises and bright lights.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and work in tight spaces.
• Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Travel

This position requires frequent travel. Travel may be mixed -- local and outside the local area and overnight.
