Position Title: Broadcast Technologist

Reports To: Assistant Chief Engineer

About Us: At Oklahoma's News 4 KFOR, we're not just a team; we're a family dedicated to delivering top-notch news and entertainment. As a Broadcast Technologist, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and elevating our station's day-to-day operations.

Position Summary: Are you a proactive problem-solver with a passion for cutting-edge broadcast technology? We're looking for you! As a Broadcast Technologist, you'll be the go-to expert for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing preventative maintenance on our broadcast equipment. Join us and be at the forefront of supporting our award-winning news department responsible for over 50 hours of live programming every week, creatives service and sales departments.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS:
• Maintain TV transmitters, audio consoles, video switchers, and more.
• Ensure signal quality and compliance with FCC regulations.
• Operate and maintain electronic newsgathering equipment.
• Install and maintain satellite equipment on station vehicles.
• Be the MacGyver of electronics – combining logic, electronic theory, and creativity.
• Install and troubleshoot wide area networks, servers, routers, and more.
• Showcase your knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux, and even 8-bit NES).
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and upgrades.
• Provide stellar technical support to our team, both in-studio and in the field.
• And of course, be ready for other exciting duties as assigned!

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Strong ability to troubleshoot and repair analog/digital electronics.
• Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
• Mechanical skills to disassemble, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment.
• Independence and teamwork skills – you'll be a crucial part of our dynamic team.
• Familiarity with computer hardware and operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux).
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation.
• Physical fitness to lift at least 50 pounds, climb ladders, and be active.
• Flexibility to work various hours, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
• Possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.

Bonus Points:
• FCC Licensed Amateur Radio Operator or SBE certifications (preferred but not required).
