Job Summary/Description:
KCTV5 in Kansas City is looking for someone with a special eye for creativity and advanced visual storytelling to join our special projects unit. KCTV5 is loaded with dynamic storytellers, and we are looking for an experienced photographer and editor who can help make our investigative and long-form stories come to life. You must be self-motivated, have good communication skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. While there will be periodic general assignment responsibilities, the primary goal of this job is to tell stories at the highest level. If this sounds like you, please apply!
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Gathering video and sound for stories
- Creating high-level, creative graphics
- Shooting live shots
- Editing stories for television, digital, and social media
- Contribute to the entire editorial process, including sourcing, enterprising, gathering, story construction, and presentation.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of prior videography experience in a TV Newsroom (5 years preferable)
- Experience working with investigative and long-form storytelling
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and After Effects, along with Edius
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in journalism, TV production, or related field- equivalent experience considered
- Non-linear editing experience
- LIVEU
- Proven ability to post content on social media platforms
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
- Flexible schedule with on-call assignments
- MVR check in pre-employment
