THE ROLE
Insomniac is looking for an experienced and solutions-driven Product Development Manager to lead the creation and execution of Insomniac's apparel and festival merchandise programs. This role is responsible for turning design concepts into high-quality, commercially viable products, overseeing development from initial concepts and designs.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge of apparel production with a strong creative sensibility. They'll ensure that each piece we release not only meets cost, quality, and fit standards but also embodies the Insomniac spirit of innovation and self-expression. This position will report to the Head of Event Apparel & Merchandising. This is not a remote position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drive the end-to-end product development process across apparel and festival merchandise.
• Translate design intent into technical product specifications, ensuring feasibility and production readiness.
• Source, evaluate, and manage vendor relationships to align with cost, quality, and sustainability goals.
• Own development timelines and calendars, ensuring on-time approvals, samples, and production handoffs.
• Partner with Design, Merchandising teams to balance creative vision with commercial objectives.
• Collaborate with Production to manage sampling, fit sessions, and quality control checkpoints.
• Anticipate and resolve issues across fit, materials, construction, or delivery that could impact timelines.
• Knowledge of raw materials, construction, garment washes and print applications across woven and knit categories
• Research and introduce new materials, washes, trims, and production techniques that elevate product innovation
• Maintain accurate documentation across tech packs, BOMs, and development systems
• Ensure product aligns with brand standards, compliance requirements, and festival-ready durability
• Train and provide support in onboarding clients, vendors and partners when needed
• All other projects and initiatives as identified
QUALIFICATIONS
• 3–5 years of product development experience in apparel, streetwear, or lifestyle brands
• Strong technical knowledge of garment construction, materials, sourcing, graphic applications
• Proven experience managing vendor and factory relationships domestically and internationally
• Ability to manage multiple categories and timelines simultaneously with precision
• Proficiency in PLM systems, Excel, and Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign)
• Experience with project management tools (Asana, Airtable, or similar)
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-first mindset
• Deep interest in music, fashion, and youth culture, particularly electronic music and festival communities
• Collaborative communicator who thrives in fast-paced, cross-functional environments
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Must be willing to travel to work during holidays, evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines
• Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels and drastic temperature climates while working on site at various event location
• Must be able to work in open concept office space
