THE ROLE

Insomniac is looking for a Manager, Accounting to provide financial accounting support and supervision to significant portions of the finance close process. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, finance reporting, audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities. This position will oversee Staff and Senior Accountants. This is not a remote position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

REPORTING
• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end GL close
• Manage reporting of all monthly financial information and submission of corporate requirements, ensuring accuracy in the analysis
• Manage and support daily accounting duties, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting

PARTNERING/COLLABORATION
• Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine and complex accounting transactions
• Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
• Primary contributor and contact to external auditors
• Collaborate with other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives
• Support management team with ad hoc analysis and special projects
• Facilitate the training and mentoring of accounting with the goals of improving financial accounting support to the company
• Provide recommendations and changes to improve accounting systems, reporting and processes
• Recruit, train and onboard members on the team both directly and partnering teams
• Other special projects and tasks as assigned as needed
• Some travel may be required (economy)

COMPLIANCE
• Continually monitor internal and external audit schedules are in compliance with SOX
• Ensure all accounting policies, procedures, reserves and estimates are up to date
• Ensure adherence to established corporate policies and procedures
• Ensure accounting system (Oracle) is reconciled, and any variances explained

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelors in Business, Finance or Accounting required; CPA preferred
• 6+ years of management experience in financial accounting and/or auditing preferred, Entertainment Industry preferred
• 4+ years management experience is required, including managing, developing and leading teams as well as optimizing and reorganizing teams to most effectively meet business needs
• Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills
• Proficient technical skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables and V-Look-ups
• Knowledge in ERP and consolidation systems such as Oracle and SAP
• Knowledge in accounting and budgeting systems
• Experience in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes within a large public company

WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels & busy environments
• May work in drastic temperature climates
• Must be willing to work and travel to work events during evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines and work events
