Position Summary
At ILM, Senior FX Technical Directors are tasked with creating complex simulations, procedural setups, and crafting particle and fluid systems for feature films and episodic visual effects.
We seek an artist with outstanding technical and problem-solving abilities, paired with a keen creative eye. The ideal person for this role thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and consistently strives to deliver work of the highest quality.
What you'll do:
Design and develop procedural systems, including RBD, fluid, cloth, and particle simulations.
Set up and wrangle simulations for enormous effects-driven visual effects shots.
Solve complex technical problems and debug simulation and rendering issues.
Render and light effects elements for use in final composites.
Create and modify surface and volumetric shaders.
Pick up new techniques quickly and with ease.
Continuously raise the benchmark in terms of quality and efficiency.
Mentor and coach other artists.
What we're looking for:
Extensive experience as a senior effects technical director in feature films and/or episodic TV.
Ability to work with proficiency, energy, and passion within a team environment.
Engages in the creative process with an inclusive and encouraging approach.
Demonstrates an excellent aesthetic eye and has the technical know-how to achieve a desired look.
Shows exceptional problem-solving abilities and proactively contributes ideas and suggestions
Expert-level knowledge of most aspects within Houdini.
Experience and interest in contributing to talent development in the effects department.
Linux and scripting proficiency.

This role is Hybrid, which means the employee will be required to work a minimum of 2 days on-site per week at a Company designated location, and occasionally from home.
