Systems Engineer

The Role
The Systems Engineer at Cingularity is a pivotal role that demands technical expertise and innovative thinking. As a leader in broadcast systems engineering, you will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining the complex infrastructure that powers our mission-critical transmission systems. This role necessitates a profound understanding of systems engineering principles, industry best practices and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
By collaborating with diverse teams across the organization, you will ensure the high availability, scalability and robust security of our systems, guaranteeing seamless content delivery to our clients . Your ability to anticipate and address technical challenges will be essential in maintaining the highest standards of broadcast excellence.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer Linux and Windows environments, including configuration, deployment and management of vario us systems
• Ensure maintenance and patching across diverse Linux and Windows environments by building and maintaining an automated systems .
• Design, develop and implement complex distributed systems, ensuring seamless broadcast transmission across various platforms.
• Lead technical systems projects from concept to deployment, meeting schedules and budget constraints.
• Develop performance and security plans for systems that meet the needs of broadcast engineering .
• Monitor and tune systems to achieve
optimum performance levels and ensure data integrity through backups and archive operations.
• Provide input for technical briefings, project planning and implementation.
Technical Knowledge and Experience
Required
• In-depth e xperience with various Linux environments (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu)
• Knowledge or experience of automation tooling utilising an array of techniques including scripting and tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef etc. for future development.
• Experience with systems like Netbox ,
OpenNMS , Grafana, Graylog , ELK, Influx, Data Miner, or other monitoring, logging, and visualization tools is highly valued.
• Experience with high-availability, scalable systems for critical live content broadcasting.
• Knowledge and experience
of networking technologies, including
of the TCP/IP Stack including switching, routing and multicast .
• Knowledge and experience with system engineering tasks and techniques, including system hardening, security, kernel profiling and tuning and package compilation.
• Experience in the design, construction and operation of complex distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google GCE, Azure)
Advantageous
• Good programming skills (Python, Shell, Bash, Perl, Ruby) are desirable.
• System capacity planning for broadcast transmission infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of systems engineering principles, networking concepts (ISP/WAN) protocols, security, Linux operating systems and related hardware.
• Familiarity with video transmission equipment, including encoders, decoders and video routers, is advantageous .
• Proficient in Windows and Linux Systems
• Experience of video and audio encoding technologies and parameters
• Ideally educated to a degree level or equivalent experience.
