SUMMARY

Disney Streaming's Recommendation Research team is seeking a Senior SDE to be responsible for the application scenario development of recommendation algorithms for online streaming media services such as Disney+/Hulu/Star+/ESPN+. As a senior member of our research team, you will have a chance to tackle some of the most challenging and exciting algorithmic problems.

The recommendation team analyzes and leverages petabytes of user and content data in order to serve the right content to the right users, and create the best personalization experience in online video. While we stand firmly on statistical and mathematical foundations, we see great value in real world, creative and pragmatic solutions.

An ideal candidate should have rich experiences in big data processing, feature engineering of industrial-level recommender systems, and developing algorithm application scenarios. If you are someone who is proactive, inquisitive, and innovative in either of these domains, this is a phenomenal role for you!

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Responsible for the development, deployment, optimization, and maintenance of industrial-level recommendation systems, including data set generation, feature engineering research and development, and close collaboration with researchers to implement algorithms for specific scenarios;
• As a core member of the team, participate in the whole process of system development: design, experiment, code development, testing;
• Use tools in the field of machine learning to build big data-driven machine learning systems;
• Quickly iterate on ideas to solve challenging engineering problems in the video field;
• Develop and rapidly iterate innovative solutions to challenging related problems;
• Develop scalable and efficient methods for large-scale data analysis and model development.
• Collaborate with program managers, and product managers and researchers in an open, creative environment

WHAT TO BRING
• MS in computer science, EE or other related discipline
• 2+ years of working experience on software development
• Strong coding, proficient in one of the programming languages such as Java/Scala/Python;
• Proficient in hadoop ecology (spark/flink, etc.);
• Excellent communication skills, strong sense of responsibility, good teamwork spirit
• Fluent English communication and writing skills
• Recommendation system / advertising system / search engine development engineer or machine learning related background and experience are highly preferred
