SUMMARY

Hulu's Beijing Video team is seeking a Principal Software Development Lead who will be an outstanding addition to our technology team. As a top-tier technical evangelist at our growing team, you will be one important piece to build the world-class video-on-demand pipeline by using groundbreaking technology. We encourage you to lead our team to build up and deliver advanced Video features. The ideal candidate is to have expertise in building backend video services, or other large-scale backend distributed services. You need to understand how to produce technical requirements from architectural designs, and should be rigorous when operationalizing the services you build. Moreover, we expect you having extraordinary Video domain knowledge as well as Team Management skills. We are also seeking the candidate who has the outstanding teamwork spirit - you're encouraged to seamlessly collaborate with different teams across different offices between U.S. and China. WHAT YOU'LL DO
• To lead team building a world-class, high-performing software development team in Hulu Beijing office with expertise in software implementation and troubleshooting in Video domain.
• Leading, coaching and mentoring junior Dev Leads and team members, to build and improve system performance, stability and scalability.
• Embed yourself into Video engineering team, to contribute the knowledge and effort in video feature delivery and video quality improvement.

WHAT TO BRING
• BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
• 8+ years professional software development experience in using C, C++, Go, Python or Java
• 5+ years experience in managing software development teams as a second-line manager.
• Domain expert on multimedia area, like Audio & Video CODEC, DRM, and HLS/DASH, etc.
• Experience in building large scale distributed computation system or other backend services with proven records.
• Deep understanding about on-line system operation process.
• Independence and an eagerness to learn new technologies. Solid ability to solve complex technical problems.
• Passionate about building video technologies and continuously improving video playback experience.
• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, used to work with multinational teams which located in different countries.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
• Fluent English in reading, writing and speaking.

NICE-TO-HAVES
• Experience on building online video transcoding / streaming systems
