On Nov. 19, 2020, BuzzFeed announced that it was acquiring HuffPost. HuffPost is a premium destination for award-winning journalism, and was the first fully digital US publication to win the Pulitzer prize - a testament to editorial excellence. With this acquisition, BuzzFeed's scale, engagement and cultural impact will be unrivaled. BuzzFeed News and HuffPost will operate as separate, distinct news organizations.

The Role

HuffPost seeks a dedicated, knowledgeable and creative audience editor to help cultivate the largest, most engaged and diverse audience on the internet.

You Will

This person will collaborate with fellow audience editors to optimize all HuffPost content for different audiences and platforms. They will guide SEO work on individual posts with writers and copy editors. They will handle packaging and distribution of content across social channels, including the management of HuffPost's main Facebook page during peak weekday hours, and the programming of HuffPost's main Instagram account. They will coordinate HuffPost's Apple News strategy, managing push alerts, pitches and regular reporting on this 12.6M monthly-UV-strong audience.

This editor will also identify trending stories, pitching content ideas that are of interest to our audiences across different platforms. They will analyze audience and referral data, transmitting insights to fellow audience editors and the HuffPost newsroom. They will liaise with HuffPost's Enterprise and Politics teams, providing feedback and guidance on our longform original reporting.

Finally, this person will participate in audience team activities – from engagement projects (callouts, UGC, AMAs, and beyond) to video ideation and distribution, forward planning for tentpole events, and community activities – to encourage engaged, diverse readership and viewership.

You Have

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience working in digital media, content strategy or audience development. They will exhibit a deep understanding of audience data and analytics, and can intuit trends and articulate actionable insights. They are comfortable with social scheduling across platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and crafting copy that fits HuffPost's brand voice. They are well-versed in news and lifestyle SEO; familiarity with tools like SEMRush, Google Search Console and Ahrefs is a plus. They are fast and precise in breaking news events, while also staying organized as they manage long-term projects.
