Special Projects / Pre-Pro Motion Designer

Job Description

Hearst Television (HTV) seeks an experienced motion designer with exceptional design and creative skills to join our group design hub as Special Projects / Pre-Pro Motion Designer. Working closely with our News Operations Manager and Design Manager this position is responsible for packaging and filling weekly design requests for Hearst Television's weekly syndicated show Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien, creating new motion design tools and filling design requests for group news content delivered from Hearst Television's Washington Bureau and helping fill requests and packaging needs for local station specials. Reports to News Operations Manager, HTV Design, working inside design hub in Orlando, FL.

Job Responsibilities:
• Work directly with Matter of Fact staff on weekly graphic needs for packages and show production
• Work directly with Washington Bureau to create packaging tools and fill requests for group news content
• Collaboration and one-on-one interaction with HTV Design managers and station staff
• Manage requests including HTV Design produced motion elements.
• Create templated projects that can be customized and used by local stations and HTV brands
• Support and follow brand guidance and design systems created for multiple design packages and looks across Hearst Television group

Experience Requirements:
• Deep understanding of news packaging, storytelling, package pre-pro motion graphics and info graphics
• Understanding of production and pre-pro process for long form and short form editing
• Ability to manage media assets and projects from concept to completion
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud editing and design tools including Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop and Illustrator
• 2D motion design using After Effects
• 3D experience with C4D a plus
• Understanding of Adobe Libraries and Mogrts a plus
• Understanding of DAM and Project Management software a plus

Qualifications Requirements:
• Extraordinary visualization, conceptualization, and design skills with strong background in motion design, storytelling and newscast production
• Design portfolio or motion reel should demonstrate knowledge of current industry trends and techniques
• Strong communication and organizational skills including presentation skills, both in person and remotely with clients

Education:
• Related experience and/or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience.
