Job Description

Hearst Magazines is looking for a creative and talented SEO manager to work with our Enthusiast brands - Runner's World, Bicycling, and Popular Mechanics. Combined, these sites generate more than 15 million users each month who are as obsessed with our brands as we are. From millennials to marathon runners, tech nerds to space geeks, you'll be able to help shape content creation each and every day.

As a company, Search plays an important role and produces a healthy variety of traffic. We're seeking a rock-star of sorts that can assist our associate SEO director to bring our strong Search foundation to the next level. Working directly with our digital editors, you'll get a front line view of the latest gadgets, record-breaking athletes, ecommerce everything, and at times, you'll get to help be part of the testing process (hello, new running shoes).

While this is mainly an SEO role, we are also looking for someone with an analytical mind. As we continue to make smarter decisions based on data, this role will be responsible for providing insights to help shape content strategy, whether that be organic search, paid, or even newsletter.

Here's what you'll be responsible for:

Create a unique SEO content strategy for each site that seamlessly mixes into their editorial calendar and voice. Sure we're talking about keyword ideas, but also new areas of content opportunity overall, emerging trends, ever-changing seasonal opportunities, and innovative takes on what's buzzing on the InterWebs. #TourDeFrance

Optimize content on the regular, whether it's on-page headlines, meta titles, slugs, or body copy, you know what the page needs to rank in Google.

Work directly in our CMS updating meta info, creating URLs, working on all sorts of internal linking, creating collection pages, and monitoring redirects.

Use our analytics tools to provide reporting to stakeholders on what's working and what's not working. Analyze data to provide recommendations on what we should be doing more of.

Keep tabs on keywords that have been assigned, completed, and published. You'll see a story through from start to finish.

Live and breathe all things Search. Stay on top of the industry, test out new product features, and ensure we're always playing nicely with every algorithm update. You're basically like the algo police.

Qualifications:
