Deputy Visual Director

Your Impact:

The Hearst Visual Group is looking for a Deputy Visual Director to join the team. This position will focus on visual content creation with a focus on fashion, celebrity, and feature shoots for Harper's Bazaar. Candidate must be an extremely detail-oriented multitasker and have at least 4 years of experience working in a photo/visual department of a magazine, website, or similar outlet. Must be an engaged and enthusiastic team player who is well versed and passionate about photography. The focus of this position will be Harper's Bazaar, with the potential to contribute to other Hearst titles within the Hearst Visual Group.

Responsibilities:
• Commission photographers and produce shoots for print and digital stories that include fashion, features, beauty and still life.
• Produce and direct on set, in collaboration with Creative Director.
• Work closely and collaboratively with Visual Director and team.
• Manage budgets and estimates, and negotiate rates with agents, photographers, and vendors.
• Maintain existing industry relationships and develop new ones.
• Generate photo contracts, certificates of insurance, call sheets, oversee credits, retouching deadlines, and image files.

Qualifications:
• At least 4 years of experience working in a photo/visual department of a magazine, website, or similar outlet.
• Must have experience producing and directing complicated shoots on a tight budget.
• Must have extensive knowledge of photographers, agents, fashion stylists, hair/make-up artists and set designers.
• Must exhibit professionalism, initiative, and resourcefulness.
• Must be proactive, detail oriented and have the ability to work and collaborate in a fast-paced environment.

The base salary for this role is $93,000. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
