Job Description
Hearst Magazines is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Data Solutions Team within the digital Magazine division. This role is crucial for the development, optimization, and maintenance of our data architecture, pipelines, and databases that support our data science and analytics capabilities.
Resonsibilities:
• As a data engineer, you will work closely with data scientists, analysts, product managers, and engineers to design, develop, and deploy data solutions that support Hearst Magazines' digital business.
• Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices for data integrity, performance, scalability, and security.
• You will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes, and data platforms using cloud technologies and best practices.
• Build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models, and proof of concepts.
• Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures.
• You will also collaborate with other data engineers and architects to ensure data quality, reliability, security, and governance across the data ecosystem.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related field.
• At least 1 year of experience in data analysis, data mining, machine learning, or related field.
• Expertise in using statistical and analytical software such as Python, R, SAS, and/or SQL.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze large and complex data sets.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret and present complex data in an understandable manner.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with data visualization techniques and tools.
• Knowledge of data architecture and database management systems.
• Knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and predictive analytics.
