Job Description
Hearst Television seeks a strategic analyst to assess programming and scheduling decisions and contribute to overall business strategy for new streaming initiatives. This position serves as the nexus between Content, Product, and Marketing to ensure optimal success in driving organic viewership across platforms. With broadcast stations in 26 US markets, Hearst Television reaches a fifth of US households; this role will provide guidance for teams serving all of those markets.

The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of and passion for news and lifestyle programming and an understanding for how viewers discover and consume video content. She or he loves to dig into data and provide insights as well as design and measure experiments in content production and distribution.

The Programming Analyst reports to the Manager, Scheduling of Streaming Video Services of Hearst Television.

Responsibilities
• Produce exploratory analysis, reporting, and visualizations to drive decision-making and provide fact-based actionable recommendations
• Build and maintain regular reports on content performance
• Field requests for analysis; compile and deliver reports
• Analyze content performance across multiple platforms, measured in multiple locations and make recommendations to content teams based on data insights
• Assist with content pipeline to ensure deadlines are always being met
• Collaborate cross-functionally to execute planned programming initiatives and enhance viewer experiences
• Operationalize new processes so that they can be maintained in an on-going and efficient manner
• Provide support in optimizing and tagging video content
• Have a knowledge of emerging and existing platforms and a perspective on how to utilize them for audience growth
• Assess and provide updates on industry trends and competitive landscape

Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience in a programming strategy, content insights or an optimization role for a media & entertainment company or digital platform; MBA not required but preferred
• Familiarity with Google Analytics, Conviva, Cleeng, app store analytics, social platform analytics and other analytics tools
• Ability to successfully work with various levels of management
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment
• Phenomenal attention to detail and exemplary presentation skills
• Understanding of streaming business landscape
• Understanding of content optimization for various platforms
• Related experience and/or training considered as well as combination of education experience.

The estimated base salary range for this role is between $70,000 and $90,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, including geographic location where the work will be performed, and other factors permitted by law. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
