About HearstMade

HearstMade is the in-house branded content studio for all of Hearst Magazines. Through a combination of data-driven insight and editorial instinct, we create stories that not only get attention but drive action. We are looking for an Associate Creative Director to join our team of editors, designers, photo and video producers and talent bookers in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.

The Associate Creative Director, Photo will lead a team of highly creative, multiplatform branded content creatives to facilitate photo content for big name clients such as Amazon, Dove, Gucci, The Ritz-Carlton, and The Home Depot, covering fashion, beauty, home, lifestyle, and health. The ACD is responsible for overseeing the photo development and execution process from pre-sale brainstorms and ideation through post-sale execution, including conceptualizing, packaging and editing.

This person will work closely with Hearst Magazines' sales and marketing teams, project managers, and HearstMade editors to ensure that content is in line with both client KPIs and each brand's creative voice. The ACD's job is to ensure that all visual storytelling that comes out of HearstMade is as exciting, engaging, and well-executed. This person will report directly to the Creative Director of HearstMade.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Creative preparation
• Art direction and management of photo shoots
• Project kickoffs to completion
• Assemble creative decks
• Work with production for shoot pre-pro and logistics
• Direct shoots
• Manage files
• Conduct retouching markups
• Field creative feedback
• Meet timeline milestones
• Inspire, motivate, and guide the photo team on set
• Lead the team to produce elevated, dynamic imagery on a daily basis, amongst the high output of creative imagery by the photo team
• Huge attention to detail - editorial photography must be consistent and fall within established brand guidelines
• Support the creative director on client brainstorms and ideation

QUALIFICATIONS
• 6 years of experience in a photo art direction role
• You have natural leadership ability, supportive and encouraging, always working to bring out the best in your direct reports.
• You are flexible and able to pivot as needed. You have no problem jumping in and rolling up your sleeves to assist on any program at any point in the process.
• You are a quick thinker and quick problem-solver but also know when to escalate issues.
• You are a natural diplomat and bridge-builder, able to work with internal and external stakeholders who may have different priorities, but shared goals.
• On-set experience directing photo shoots in a fashion environment, both on-figure and still life. You have a stellar portfolio and strong grasp of current and upcoming trends in culture and fashion.
• You have a discerning eye for photography, layout, and composition.
• You have an excellent interpersonal skills, time management, creative problem solving abilities, attention to detail, and a can-do, solutions-oriented approach.
• You have in-depth knowledge of photography and production processes.
• You are proficient in latest design software (Adobe Creative Suite, CaptureOne a plus).
