With a fun, friendly approach, we spotlight real homes across the country, sharing tons of creative, doable ideas, from curb appeal boosts to pretty paint colors. We inspire readers to create a home they love, providing real-life solutions in an upbeat, engaging way. We also shine a spotlight on the top HGTV stars, who provide tips and helpful advice in every issue. HGTV Magazine has a loyal 1M+ subscribers and is a top-10 best-selling monthly magazine on newsstands. We are now looking for an assistant home editor to join our home department. Our ideal candidate has a passion for all things home and interior design (and, of course, HGTV!) and would be thrilled to roll up their sleeves and jump in to assist in the production of award-winning print content.

What you'll do:
• Assist the Home Department with all incoming and outgoing product for real home shoots in the magazine. Responsibilities may include:
• Work with interior designers, shop owners, influencers, and HGTV talent to source locations for feature shoots and cover
• Research props for covers, interior shoots and makeovers
• Coordinate directly with vendors to request samples of approved items and to facilitate returns
• Organize all the information and handle the returns as needed
• Travel to shoots on occasion to assist on set by managing props and loans .
• Organize all home location pitches: secure scouting, coordinate with homeowners, manage contact databases
• Create and manage Google docs to help organize and traffic all of the incoming and outgoing product for the home department stories.
• Source items for shopping pages produced by the home department-call in low-resolution images for consideration, request high-resolution imagery once approved (or product to be photographed), and gather credit sheets
• Attend press previews, market events, and trade shows like NY Now and Shoppe Object to build relationships as a face of the magazine and to seek out the latest products and trends in the industry
• Collaborate with writers to come up with story headlines and angles
• Produce our regular ''Sources'' column. Work closely with editors, designers, and stylists to compile a sources list for all stories in the magazine and coordinate with the art team and copy/research department to ensure all of the appropriate information is included
• Send out copies of issues and PDFs of stories every month to featured vendors
Who you are:
• A year of post-grad experience working at an interior design firm or as a stylist's assistant, or handling similar responsibilities at a magazine
• A passion for all things home and interior design-and shopping!
• A highly organized individual who can multitask assignments
• A creative individual who has a strong sense of style
• A go-getter who has enthusiasm to learn new things and to jump in as needed to help out the team
• Familiarity with InCopy, Woodwing, and Google Docs is a plus
