The Job

The SVP, Product Management will help define the strategic direction and lead the product roadmap for the core areas of the HBO Max app experience. Sitting at the heart of the customer, business and technology, the role will oversee and drive a product vision that translates into a valuable consumer experience. This includes caring for how users discover and engage with content and setting strategy for integration across platforms including web, apps, connected TVs, streaming devices, and third-party affiliates' connected devices.

The leader will be responsible for key areas of the app experience and capabilities including:
• Discovery, Search & Personalization
• Metadata & associated experiences
• Video playback (ease, functionality, quality)
• Content presentation, and how content is served up to users within the app
• Driving usage, video viewing time and engagement within the app
• Conducting analysis for key insights based on usage, and making data-driven decisions for continual improvement of the UX

The Senior Vice President will lead a large team of high performing product managers toward the goal of identifying consumer and technology trends to inform strategic product decisions and define the product roadmap. This includes both management of the existing in-market product, as well as adding content, new features and capabilities and in some cases, re-booting the existing experience. The role is also a key liaison to the international product teams, lending expertise on core capabilities and how we globalize and scale features moving forward.

The Daily
• Define and articulate longer-term strategies and identify level of effort to achieve timeline targets
• Own the ongoing optimization of our products to achieve business goals and drive consumer engagement
• Is the product expert/leader and effectively partner with cross-functional teams to bring product capabilities to market
• Leads a team to develop relevant documentation: business case, competitive landscape, roadmap
• Guides the team in drafting the feature requirements and defining what ''minimum viable product'' to build
• Takes a rigorous, data-driven approach to assess and align on competing priorities and define quantifiable objectives and product goals
• Identifies customer pain points and needs through consumer / competitive research and usage data
• Articulate what the product should do and the problems it solves
• Work tightly with Experience Design teams on requirements and wireframes/design development
• Partner with content team and product development to help shape how the acquired content and original programming manifest within the product experience; define requirements based on content rights parameters and packaging constructs
• Clearly communicate the roadmap at all levels, including specific functionality offered at any given point in time to ensure all understand what the consumer will see

The Essentials
• 20+ years of relevant experience with at least 10+ years of experience in managing or leading digital product management or related experience with consumer-facing apps. Experience in the entertainment/media/music industry or subscription-based business is preferred
• Ability to successfully lead, motivate, and develop a team of product managers in a large and complex organization
• Extensive experience in streaming video products on tablets, phones, PCs, and other devices
• Proven track record with defining product strategy and requirements for SVOD or other streaming products and ability to execute upon those requirements with development teams
• Critical and strategic thinker with a consumer-driven lens to approach product development
• Deep understanding of technical capabilities to conceive how the architecture implementation would affect the outcome of the consumer experience
• Experience in an agile development process (Scrum, Kanban) required
• Understands the mobile video industry, competitive landscape including SVOD and OTT services, and consumer
• Regularly uses the products we build as well as our competitors' services
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required
• Must be self-motivated and accountable
• Understanding of how to develop rapid prototypes, A/B testing, and iterative development practices
• Ability to adapt rapidly in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and the ability to react quickly, dynamically, and intelligently
• Must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to understand and engage with technical teams on highly complex projects
• Comfortable working in an environment that is ever-changing, with grey or uncertain areas; candidate must be able to create their own direction and balance cross functional teams' needs
