The Job

Home Box Office, Inc. seeks a Strategic Planning Analyst for the Strategic Planning department. The Office of Strategic Management (OSM) is a function within the Technology Strategy & Business Operations (TS&BO) organization. We are looking to bring on a Strategic Analyst who will be responsible for analyzing business practices and goals and make suggestions for improvements or company direction. Role will devise strategies for cutting costs, increasing revenue, and making key decisions. Ability to help company define markets and identify trends within a specific market, as well as troubleshoot current problems and implement solutions. Also, Strategic Analyst role involves analyzing business competitors and providing an in-depth understanding to help evolve objectives and goals that will inform performance indicators for internal business stakeholders.

The Daily
• Analyze current business goals and direction and ensure that practices align with company objectives
• Make suggestions to improve practices and adjust a company's goals and mission to increase performance and market share
• Monitor market trends to help a company adjust to changing conditions that affect goals and production
• Identify key markets in which a company should be involved and help companies adjust to be successful in market changes
• Understand competitor practice and market behavior (analyze what works and what does not work for competitors to help WarnedMedia organization employ successful tactics and avoid pitfalls)
• Pinpoint the right data-driven technology strategy solutions to meet the needs internal stakeholders and help draw up practical implementation road maps that position long-term success
• Apply strong analytical skills to dig deep into research and large data sets to identify where clients can leverage IT for greatest strategic impact to drive business outcomes
• Use data models and visualization to bring your analysis to life
• Keep deepening your prowess in business and technology strategy
• Develop strong business relationships with internal stakeholders in various departments within the organization

The Essentials
• BS/BA Degree
• 1-3 Years of experience in external consultant or an internal client/customer supporting role
• Minimum 1 year of experience improving the business value of technology
• Minimum 1 year of experience writing business cases (quantitative and qualitative) to support strategic business initiatives
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Creative problem solver with a strong sense of ownership
• Ability to think critically and analyze data trends for operational risk and efficiencies
• Detail oriented with good organizational and presentation skills
• Ability to adapt to quick changes in requirements and priorities

Bonus Points if:
• MBA or equivalent graduate degree
• Experience with one or more reporting/ visualization tool and/or common reporting tools (Power BI, Looker, Tableau, etc.)
• Facilitation or consulting experience in either agency or corporate models
• Strong professional etiquette and relationship development sensibilities
• Demonstrated ability to connect dots across business and technical domains
