The Job

UX Research is essential to creating an HBO Max global viewer experience that is as rewarding and user-friendly, as it is entertaining. As a Senior UX Researcher, your work will impact product decisions in a variety of features such as content discovery, personalization, service design, and player experiences across all media devices and platforms. Senior UX Researchers are responsible for delivering high impact research from early stage exploratory UX research to later stage usability testing for feature launch. UX Research collaborates daily with design, product management, consumer insights, A/B experimentation teams, and data science to bring a global user-centered approach to designing HBO Max.

The Daily
• Drive UX research to equip product leadership with strategic and tactical insights for feature prioritization and benchmarking success of HBO Max.
• Work with UX Research Program Leads to identify and plan high value research tied to business and customer success metrics.
• Plan and conduct UX research projects end-to-end including but not limited to; strategy, planning, study moderation, data analysis, reporting, presentation and team communication.
• Present the data story with actionable insights, then workshop the findings with product teams to apply the research to product decisions.
• Collaborate with research program lead, designers, project managers, and engineers from ideation through iterative design cycles to incorporate user centered design activities throughout the product design process.
• Manage operations for your research projects including budget estimation, deliverables schedules, stakeholder coordination, research vendor engagements, prototype security measures, and research tool set-up.
• Consult on human factors and user-centered-design best practices.
• Grow the UXR team's expertise and operations; explore new ways to discover user insights, build templates and processes, and help teams understand and apply best practices.

The Essentials
• 5+ years experience in a UX Researcher role on a product development team or consultant group
• Experience working on global products with stakeholders and audiences outside the US
• Strong client-management skills; ability to adapt to a variety of individual styles and approaches in order to deliver the appropriate insights and support each requires
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in all categories; verbal, visual, and written.
• Strong command of a broad set of qualitative and quantitative user research methods with the ability to discern and recommend the right method(s) for a project.
• Practical expertise in experimental design for qualitative research, user-centered design methodology, data analysis, and reporting and communicating results.
• Practical expertise in study session moderation/facilitation for in-depth-interviews, cognitive walkthroughs, usability studies, and contextual inquiry.
• Experience working on digital media and entertainment experiences involving content search, browse, and play a plus.
• Experience testing TV consoles and remotes, gaming consoles and remotes, phone, tablet, desktop, and voice a plus.
• Graduate degree in Engineering Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, or a closely related field preferred, or equivalent years of experience.
