Sr Staff Software Engineer - HBO Max

The Job

WarnerMedia seeks a Sr Staff Software Engineer for the Customer Experience Engineering department.

The HBO DTC Clients and Platforms Build and Deploy team is responsible for supporting the Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) environments and associated tools used to create HBO Max applications. We work with other teams to ensure an excellent developer experience, and collaborate with project owners to empower teams to deliver high quality applications. As part of the Build and Deploy team, you will play a crucial role in the worldwide rollout of HBO Max across hundreds of platforms.

The Daily
• Design, architect, and support pipelines that allow developers to build applications
• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional teams to define and identify opportunities to improve developers' experience.
• You are a team resource, growing other engineers and defining team software standards and engineering best practices
• Design and deliver complex architectures and distributed systems, including working through other engineers to help deliver the end solution
• Describe highly technical concepts to non-technical audiences in a way they can understand
• Be passionate about software engineering with a strong sense of ownership for the code that you and your team write
• Seek self-improvement and are adaptable to suggestions and feedback
• Proactively identifies and leads projects to improve automation of development, test, and operational processes across teams.
• Hold yourself and your team to high standards while maintaining friendly, respectful relationships

The Essentials
• A strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, operating systems, distributed systems.
• 12+ years of professional development experience using languages such as Java, C, C++, C#, Javascript, Typescript, Golang
• End-to-end experience supporting large-scale backend systems in production environments
• Success in delivering and operating reliable services operating in a 24x7 environment
• Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes)
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment systems and automation

The Nice to Haves
• Experience using Jenkins, CodePipeline, and Azure DevOps to create and support pipelines.
• Experience working with the HBO Max application
• Full-stack industry experience, or hands-on familiarity with both client and server technology
• Have led the design, implementation, and delivery of large engineering projects that interacted with multiple teams
• Experience as a team resource, growing other engineers and defining team software standards and engineering best practices
