The In-App Subscriptions Team is a part of the Commerce Pillar at WBD. We are responsible for the services that power all IAP use-cases such as new subscription purchases, renewals, plan changes and overall lifecycle management for HBO Max, Discovery + and other platforms at WBD. Our scale is ~100M customers and our reach is global as we are expanding in markets worldwide .
We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our In-App Subscriptions team. As a member of the team, you will collaborate with other talented engineers at all levels to develop backend services and features that facilitate in-app purchases, including subscription processing, plan changes, and supporting the launch of our HBO Max streaming application in various regions worldwide. If you have a passion for high-scale, low-latency systems that work asynchronously within large-scale commerce organizations and are dedicated to maintaining quality while driving innovation, we'd love to have you on board!
Key Responsibilities:
• Participate proactively in design, coding, and operational best practices, applying these best practices to software projects.
• Join the design and development of significant functional changes to existing software systems or new ones, making decisions on when to build new and when to extend existing systems. Anticipate future use cases and design systems to be extendable.
• Follow and improve the exemplary standards for best practices, proactively proposing and creating best practices when needed.
• Troubleshoot production issues by reviewing source code, logs, operational metrics, stack traces, etc., identifying root causes, and using these insights to improve development processes and system design.
• Make impactful decisions on what software gets built, often persuading the team with your suggestions and ideas.
• Collaborate with third-party partners such as Apple, Amazon, Roku and Samsung to implement various features that have core dependency on these partners.
Preferred Skills:
• 3 + years of software development experience, preferably in a cloud environment.
• 3+ years of programming experience using Java, Python, JavaScript, Swift, or a similar language.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of large-scale application architecture, design, implementation, and performance tuning.
• Experience in modern DevOps/SRE practices such as CI/CD, performance monitoring, and incident management.
• Experience with Micro- service based architectures using gRPC and Kafka for interservice communication.
• Experience with asynchronous, non-blocking, functional programming.
• Deep understanding of AWS.
• Experience in building, operating , and owning services, including implementing alerting, metrics, and logging using tools like Prometheus, CloudWatch, Kibana, and PagerDuty.
• Experience collaborating across product, engineering, and analytics teams to evaluate new ideas , discuss technical concepts, create scalable designs, implement new models, and resolve roadblocks.
• Experience working with third-party partners to collaborate, communicate, escalate issues, and meet timeline commitments.
Nice to haves -
• Experience with dashboarding tools such as Databricks
• Experience with Front-end technologies and frameworks
• AI / ML understanding

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $99,400.00 - $184,600.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
