The Job

WarnerMedia Direct-To-Consumer Technology is seeking an experienced application engineer with deep Atlassian and DevOps experience to support a responsive, constantly-improving toolset for our global agile organization of product managers, engineers, designers and leaders who use Jira and Confluence every day to help ship our HBO Max streaming service.

As the ideal candidate, you have a strong working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and have experience integrating these and other tools into a DevOps pipeline to optimize release efficiency. You know how to configure Jira specifically for lean-agile teams, maintaining a proper balance between standardized views and processes that help the whole organization stay properly agile, and you can support experiments with team-specific improvements or efficiencies that help individual teams supercharge their output.

Your responsibilities include advanced support and for our Jira and Confluence users, writing API and SQL scripts to automate processes, enable self-service, and integrate with other systems. You'll also be involved in the configuration of add-ons, reconfiguration of projects and workflows, to support team-specific customizations or organization-wide standardization of Jira and Confluence, and branching out to integrate with other specialized tools like GitHub and Jenkins.

The Daily

Advanced Jira Support. Understanding our customer's ongoing needs, maintaining a prioritized queue of fixes/improvements: Requires strong organization and time management to address issues efficiently, a deep skillset in configuring and maintaining a multi-tenant Jira and Confluence instance with numerous ruleset differences across Projects and Spaces, and a commitment to listening and understanding customer needs.

Supporting Responsible Experimentation. Supporting ''what's next'' through helping teams responsibly and creatively experiment with various ways of working in our tools, including onboarding of add-ons and connections to our other infrastructure. Requires flexibility while still keeping strong mission-critical support in mind, an eye for the health of the entire system while supporting teams who want to experiment with new workflows, projects, and fields.

Enhance and Automate to Improve. Use the knowledge gained in support to envision and build time-saving enhancements to our Jira and Confluence usage patterns and support systems. Script automations, simplify flows, provide self-service steps that keep us from having to take the same actions over and over again. Requires a commitment to constant improvement and a willingness to learn new techniques and technologies.

The Essentials
