Job Description

The Head of Content, India will be responsible for setting up the local content strategy in preparation for the launch of HBO Max, with oversight of commissioning, production and acquisition of content in India.
The successful candidate will be the public face of WarnerMedia local production in India and will be a strategic liaison, partnering with the local creative and production communities.

This role will be expected to hire and lead a team of talented creative and production staff to grow the Indian content business from selection to delivery, whilst also leveraging all existing internal resources.

What you'll be doing:
Strategy and partnerships
• Define and implement the strategy for the future of Indian content for WarnerMedia and HBO Max in India, overseeing commissioning and original production, content partnerships and acquisitions
• Lead the growth and success of WarnerMedia's Indian content library both regionally and globally

Production and development
• Overseeing the development of scripted and unscripted projects to ensure a consistent flow of first class, fully developed, HBO Max-appropriate material for potential production
• Identifying potential formats, books, original series and miniseries and working with regional and local Business and Legal affairs to secure and build intellectual property and content assets
• Guiding these projects through the whole development process
• Working with external producers to attach other creative elements e.g. directors, leading talent
• Overseeing the preparation of production plans and budgets for potential future projects
• Recommending suitable projects for production
• At all times collaborating with WarnerMedia and HBO Max staff across regions and functions
• Overseeing the production and delivery of world-class scripted and unscripted projects suitable for release on HBO Max
• Recommending appropriate producers and production companies for any projects developed internally
• Representing WarnerMedia's creative, financial, and operational interests on all productions
• Exercising WarnerMedia's contractual approvals as needed
• At all times collaborating with the WarnerMedia and HBO Max staff across regions and functions

Programme planning and marketing
• Collaborating with the HBO Max and WarnerMedia departments locally and regionally that schedule and promote HBO Max original programming

Management / corporate
• Working closely with local WarnerMedia management and regional departments to prepare annual Original Production budgets and plans, recruit and monitor staff and all administrative responsibilities usually associated with running a busy development and commissioning department

What we're looking for:
• An established talent in the Indian creative community with deep knowledge of Hindi and Indian-regional content (Tamil, Telegu, Kannada etc.)
• Proven success in developing, producing, commissioning content (either film or series) for distribution in India and internationally
• Ability to attract top Indian creative talent (writers, producers, directors, actors etc.)
• Data driven approach in articulating content investment opportunities and clearly identifying measurable return on investment for HBO Max and WarnerMedia
• Team player and leader who will cooperate successfully with others both internally and externally
• Proven taste in choosing material and creative elements
• Native Hindi speaker; regional language communication a plus
• Fluent written and spoken English
