Job Summary/Description:
WHSV is looking for the next leader of our Production Department. The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Technical Media Producer (TMP) staff. This position ensures the team effectively executes directing live or pre-recorded productions, monitoring WHSV's on-air signals, transmitter, FCC obligations, and ingesting daily programming and commercials. Regular assignments involve directing newscasts, running master control, and studio upkeep.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Scheduling, supervising, and training Technical Media Producer (TMP/director) staff. This includes regular newscast reviews with our directors to strengthen their abilities with the ultimate goal of directing creative and error-free newscasts
- Working with the news department to produce high-quality newscasts
- Maintain our new state-of-the-art studio (prop and cable organization; cleanliness, etc.)
- Ingesting shows and commercials for playback; monitoring shows and commercials for all networks
- Overdrive operation; coding and playing of live local newscasts for ABC, CBS, and FOX news affiliates
- Keep appropriate records to maintain station FCC compliance
- Ability to monitor logs
- Operation of Edius / Adobe Premiere editing software
Qualification/Requirements:
- Live newscast directing experience; MCC experience; ingesting show and commercial material
- Great communication skills and problem-solving ability
- Knowledge of AP ENPS, Ross Overdrive, Vision, Crispin, Harris Automation, VizRT Graphics, and VizTicker
- Thorough knowledge of Windows-based computer systems. Additional IT knowledge or experience a plus
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- This is a department head position. Must be passionate about leading, training, and growing our production team. Must work well with other station leaders
