Job Description
As an Oscar-Award winning (Sci-Tech) team, innovation is at the heart of what we do as a company, be this developing new techniques, new ideas or creative new ways to tell our clients' stories.

Underpinning all of this is a long tradition of research, technology and development - from engineering our bespoke software solutions to gaining early access to bleeding-edge technology and forging vibrant partnerships with leading academic and scientific institutions.

Who We Are
Framestore combines talent and technology to bring life to everything we create, whether in film, TV, advertising or immersive experiences. Driven by creativity and inspired by the future, we set out every day to reframe the possible.

The Role

We are looking for a Rendering Programmer to help us push visual and technical boundaries. This is a great role for anyone passionate about graphics, problem-solving, and would like to be a part of a thriving creative environment. You'll also have the opportunity to learn and develop within a team of dedicated rendering specialists while helping to drive and support the rendering technology that delivers our award-winning visuals.

As part of our Rendering Technology team, you will develop and support our in-house renderer 'Freak', which sits at the heart of our film production pipeline. The team also build state-of-the-art shader libraries and artist-focused rendering tools - used globally across Framestore's film and episodic projects.

You'll also be:
• Researching and implementing cutting-edge rendering techniques that help deliver complex, technically challenging visual effects shots
• Building relationships with supervisors, key artists and production stakeholders to help identify, profile and optimise render scalability issues in production
• Working within a team to design and implement new features and workflows - focussing on scalable, robust, and high-performance code

Core Experience
• Contributed to the development of an existing commercial or open-source renderer, and/or the publication of computer graphics-related research
• Previous experience in VFX, games or animated feature production. You've assisted shows, tested, debugged and profiled artist-facing software
• Comprehensive theoretical understanding of rendering technologies, such as light transport, sampling, shading and geometry
• Previous experience in software engineering, including architectural design, high-performance computing and low-level programming in C/C++

Desirable Experience
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, with experience working within a proactive and agile team environment
• Strong knowledge of the mathematical concepts underpinning rendering, such as signal processing, calculus and numerical integration techniques
• Experience in a Linux development environment and experience with Git
• Knowledge of Maya, Houdini or a similar 3D package
• Experience working with USD

This role is a UK- based hybrid position with 2 project days a week with the team (Thursdays and Fridays) in our London office so candidates should be able to commute easily when necessary.
