Fox5DC – the #1 news station in Washington, DC with the most hours of local news – is in search of Studio Technician / Technical Director to join our award winning team! The Studio Technician / Technical Director will fill a variety of production roles and help prep material for our newscasts. The ideal candidate should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, live production control room and studio. The studio technician / technical director will perform functions including, but not limited to, technical director, audio operator, robotic camera, and/or floor director. Solid understanding of live production environments, specifically news production, is required. Experience with automated control room environments is a plus. Ideal candidate will be able to take direction, think critically under pressure, and work professionally as part of a cohesive team within specific time constraints. Friendly, respectful and collaborative. Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent communication skills. Interact effectively and professionally with on-air staff, off-air staff, production and technical crews, and management. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: HS Diploma (or equivalent) required. Vocational/technical school, associate's degree or bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum 3 years recent experience in the broadcast technician, master control, and news environment in a medium to major size market is required. Ability to operate live broadcast production equipment. Must be able to sit and stand for an extended period of time. Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Must be able to reach overhead, bend, squat and kneel. WTTG/WDCA is a 24/7 operation. Varied shifts, OT, weekends & holidays will be required.
