JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX 13 and FOX 13+ is seeking a digital sports writer to be a leading authority on the professional and college teams that electrify our region. The digital sports writer will officially work on our digital team, but will be laser-focused on all things sports, and work in tandem with the biggest TV sports department in Seattle. We're looking for a journalist who is eager to break news online, and be a driving force behind our digital footprint-whether it's game day, or it's not. But let's be real: game day is almost every day with all the teams we cover: Seahawks, Sounders, Mariners, Storm, Kraken, OL Reign, Huskies, Cougars, and Thunderbirds. FOX 13 and FOX 13+ is the official TV partner of the Seahawks, Sounders, Storm and Thunderbirds, so our access to these teams is unmatched. Your passion for covering sports in the Northwest should be just as strong!

RESPONSIBILITIES: The digital sports writer will actively report daily news and original features for FOX 13's digital platforms. When it's game day for the Seahawks, the successful candidate will use social and digital media to promote FOX 13's coverage and newscasts, live blog and provide real-time game updates on social media, and share additional content from the rest of the FOX 13 Sports team. These responsibilities will continue when other teams have banner days: the Cascadia Cup, the WNBA Finals, the Apple Cup and so much more! The digital sports writer will also ensure that stories and other content seen on ''Seattle Sports Live'' – our Sunday night sports show – are all over the digital space. The successful candidate would act as the digital point person each week for this program, to make sure video and stories are posted and shared.

REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate will be immersed in the world of Seattle sports. They should be a terrific writer, who also knows the ins and outs of our local teams. The digital sports writer should also be well-versed in content management systems and digital publishing, understand digital video and live streaming, and be savvy on social media. This is a full time position. Your schedule could change throughout the year as team seasons begin and end, so we'll work with you to establish a manageable schedule and routine.
