JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX 5 TV in Washington, DC is in search of a talented and creative Broadcast Technician/Engineer to operate broadcast equipment in support of top rated newscasts in a state-of-the-art facility. Candidates must have a solid understanding of live production environments, specifically news production, and be comfortable operating various broadcast components in a fast-paced, live production environment. Advanced knowledge in operating of microwave, IP and satellite control systems, fiber networks, routing switchers and production equipment. Responsible for maintaining proper audio and video levels during ingest, preparation of live shot sheets, feeds to O/O stations, advanced trouble shooting of incoming video and audio signals and oversight of air performance and accuracy. Experience with automation systems. Ability to take direction, think critically under pressure, and work professionally as part of a cohesive team and individually within specific time constraints. Friendly, respectful and collaborative. Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent communication skills. Interact effectively and professionally with on-air staff, off-air staff, production and technical crews, and management. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: 3 years recent experience in the broadcast technician, engineering, master control and news production environment in a television station or equivalent experience in a video production facility. HS Diploma (or equivalent) required. Vocational/technical school or an Associate's Degree preferred. Must be able to sit and stand for an extended period of time. Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Must be able to reach overhead, bend, squat and kneel. WTTG/WDCA is a 24/7 operation. Varied shifts, OT, weekends & holidays will be required.
