JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Sports is looking for a Freelance Trending Editor to join our Digital team in Los Angeles. The Freelance Trending Editor is a key member of the team who will be responsible for identifying, writing, and editing trending stories within the sports world. The Trending Editor will also help with publication and distribution of that content to the FOX Sports audience. The position will work directly with the FOX Sports social team to both find stories and then to fully distribute them through our social channels.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identify trending topics within the sports world and produce written content around those trends
• Display outstanding news judgment, skilled storytelling ability, knowledge of sports gambling, thorough knowledge of digital best practices (including SEO, social platforms and content sharing), and a strong knowledge of journalistic principals and methods
• Work with the Sr. Manager of Trending and the FOX Sports social teams to identify and track trends and distribute and promote content
• Work directly with the FOX Sports design team to produce graphics that illustrate trending stories
• Work with the FOX Sports programming team to craft alerts around trending content
• Work directly with the FOX Sports topics team to incorporate trending content within the site's news and events coverage
• Establish a collaborative culture for content development and creation, participating in brainstorming sessions with the staff of editors, writers, video producers and the social team

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• 2 years of experience in editorial or social media
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Deep knowledge of AP style
• Thorough understanding of all social-media platforms
• Basic understanding of SEO principles, headline writing
• Basic arithmetic for reports/recap notes
