JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Sports is looking for an Assignment Desk Senior Manager for our team in Los Angeles. As Assignment Desk Senior Manager, you will support the Executive Director and Director in leading the department and managing daily broadcast needs and remote operations/production resources for FOX Sports. You will be responsible for overseeing and supporting daily newsgathering efforts for FOX Sports and its entities. This position plays a primary function in the organization of FOX Sports jewel event productions – World Series, World Cups, Super Bowl, etc. - overseeing preparation and execution of key Desk efforts in part of typical Desk workflows and more importantly - specialty projects assigned by FOX Executives and Post Production heads like Super Bowl hotels and credential organization. This also applies to playing a heavy role for FOX NFL Kickoff, FOX NFL Sunday and Big Noon Kickoff as it pertains to talent homecams and crewing and special production requests, as necessary. You will be tasked with overall organizational efforts of the entire staff as well as scheduling and hiring. Additionally, you will execute daily operations through staff training, supervision, oversight, and team building. You will need to be educated on the policies and expectations of FOX Sports and able to disseminate to other employees. It is expected that you develop protocols for new workflows when necessary and assign out as needed. It is essential there are able target areas of inefficiency for improvement and communicate to all involved staff.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee daily operations of the FOX Sports Assignment Desk including planning, assigning and executing coverage agenda while supporting FOX Sports, FS1 and FOX affiliates needs and requests
• Play key role in overseeing and hiring of ENG crews and balancing homecam needs for FOX Sports' top shows like FOX NFL Sunday and Big Noon Kickoff
• Lead on key FOX Sports organizational duties as assigned by executives, like Super Bowl on FOX hotels and credentials
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of and ability to independently arrange transmissions (including satellite, fiber, bonded-cellular, IP-based)
• Coordinate with production, producers, directors, and staff to arrange for and carry out all production services, vendor services, and other specific needs as tailored for each broadcast as assigned
• Oversee crewing responsibilities for the department in addition to evaluating crew both before during and after productions
• Assist in managing operation strategies and procedures
• Assist with department financial matters from remote events, including building and maintaining budgets
• Maintain our strong and fully developed relationships to facilitate our future needs
• Be liaison on site and coordinate on site equipment and services for assigned sporting event broadcasts
• Make decisions on behalf of junior staff regarding any potential legal issues in clearing content and decisions on approving content while also preventing misuse of non-FOX owned content
• Book freelance ENG camera crews, insert studios and homecams for a wide variety of studio shows, marquee events, live shots, watch parties and team-coverage, among other things

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• 7+ years assignment desk experience with a proven track record as a successful manager
• Have a network of relationships with ENG crews, freelance producers, crewing companies, key vendors who facilitate transmission, and other media outlets
• Critical sports news judgment and a strong understanding of both national and local sports markets
• Full working understanding of the sports production/operations processes
• Extensive transmission knowledge required, including but not limited to, bonded-cellular (LiveU, TVU, etc), satellite, IP-based and fiber
• A self-starter who comes to the table with ideas and can motivate others
• Ability to thrive in a faced-paced environment always on deadline
• Capability to handle all communications in a positive, professional manner as facilitating relationships is an essential part of the position
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to properly work effectively with other departments within FOX Sports
• Superior knowledge of sports and sports news with the ability to react immediately to breaking news, requests and prioritize tasks for the staff in real time. This knowledge should extend to FOX Sports programming

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
• BS/BA in Journalism, Communications, or a related degree
