Job Description

The ESPN+ Brand Marketing Associate will support the development, implementation, and evaluation of brand marketing campaigns for ESPN+, the direct-to-consumer streaming service from ESPN. Ultimately, their responsibility is to develop and optimize brand strategies to drive growth of ESPN+. The ideal candidate has experience expanding aided and unaided awareness for a large brand, and acquisition experience for a subscription service. A successful candidate has a passion for the digital media landscape and understands the intricacies and unique attributes of the marketing funnel. They are highly analytical, creative, and have an in-depth understanding of promotional messaging and brand positioning to scale a digital product.

Responsibilities:

Brand Competitive Landscape:
• Keep a close pulse on incumbent and new entrants to the multi-sport direct-to-consumer sports streaming landscape
• Pay particular attention to new brand marketing campaigns, brand positioning, and offers / positioning for competitive products
• Evaluate overall ESPN+ share of voice within the DTC sports streaming marketplace, and help establish plans to drive

Marketing Strategy and Execution:
• Develop marketing initiatives that leverage brand insights and positioning work in order to drive a measurable increase in subscriber growth and retention, with a focus on top funnel measures like brand awareness and associations
• Work with DSS marketing leaders to execute new brand-level marketing campaigns and track results across ESPN+ and the Disney Bundle to ensure we're driving brand representation, awareness, and subscription intent
• Work with internal and external partners to evaluate new distribution opportunities, in order to maximize efficacy of brand campaign objectives
• Work intimately with internal creative teams and partner marketing teams within DSS and ESPN to ensure consistency of brand messaging and creative from the perspective of look, feel, and tone in the marketplace across both standalone ESPN+ and the Disney Bundle
• Build ESPN+ aided and unaided brand awareness across new markets and segments
• Define KPIs to measure campaign success and forecast performance to inform accurate planning
• Imagine, test, and iterate new brand promotional tactics across owned platforms, existing third-party platforms, and emerging channels
• Drive optimizations based on analytical insights and data to show positive return on marketing efforts, continuously improving user lifetime value and reducing churn
• Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to identify, prioritize, and articulate high impact marketing initiatives

Agency Management:
• Work with external creative agencies on the development of new brand campaigns
• Own briefing process from internal alignment to executive approval, agency pitches, and evaluating creative against brief objectives
• Support as needed on business or administrative needs related to agency management

Basic Qualifications:
• 3-5 years brand marketing experience, with experience working on a DTC service. Media a plus
• Experience leading and/or driving brand marketing initiatives for a national or international consumer-facing brand
• Multi-channel expertise, with an ability to translate both physical placements and digital placements to KPI lifts; thorough understanding of acquisition, engagement, retention and analytics, comfortable with organic and paid disciplines
• Curious, Analytical, Creative, Strategic - able to translate consumer behavior and attitudes into impactful, actionable insights to elevate and strengthen brand strategy & communication programs
• Agile and Fast Learner - able to synthesize data across different sources into easily strategic takeaways to tell a story & inform and guide marketing strategy
• Team Player in a dynamic and fast moving environment - able to drive impact and influence across key marketing stakeholder groups; comfortable with complex, cross-functional projects across teams and leagues
• Owner Mentality - a self starter able to drive brand marketing agenda and execute at a high capacity in a highly dynamic function, no task is too little or too big
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment, supporting new products/businesses supported by a proven large-scale media property

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proven track record of delivering growth from multiple digital promotional sources and executing key analyses with some supervision.
• Experience driving cross-functional team alignment and strategic planning
• Experience coordinating marketing assets and approvals
• A strong communicator with a can-do, positive attitude and a strong desire to get things done
• Passion for the digital media and entertainment space
• A sports fan excited about the future of the space and making it better for other sports fans and consumers
