Job Description
As a Senior Director, Finance, you will play a key role in managing and coordinating budgeting, forecasting and fiscal reporting activities for the business unit. Your role will play a critical part in keeping executive management updated on the financial performance of the division and delivering on corporate finance reporting requirements. You will inspire and guide junior staff as you take on oversight responsibility for the creation and review of consolidated budget, forecasts, financial models and related analyses around revenues, talent and marketing costs, joint venture and new business activity. This opportunity will allow you to further grow and develop your financial and managerial skills, while drawing upon over years of collective experience among the senior leaders of the Finance team.
What you'll do:
• Preparation of all month-end and year-end close activities including but not limited to journal entries, partner share calculations, review of variable cost calculations, etc.
• Deal analysis for artist signings and joint ventures
• Recoupment analysis of artist and joint venture balances
• Perform trend analysis to assist with Deal and Recoupment analysis
• Maintain and monitor Priority Artist Project P&L's
• Support talent/recording costs tracking and analysis
• Marketing Controls
• Budgets
• Reporting
• Forecasting
• Tour Marketing Controls
• JV Statement Reviews
• Artist Statement Reviews
• Assist in preparation of all aspects annual budget and monthly P&L forecasts
• Responsible for loading budgets and forecast into IP
• Create monthly flash reports and variance explanations
• Create reports and presentation of monthly/quarterly financial data for meeting with Sony Music Executives
• Prepare quarterly and year end reports required for reviews and audits
• Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Monitor and Approve Employee T&E spend and provide analysis on actual vs. budgeted activity
• Prepare and analyze weekly/monthly reports comprised of worldwide sales, marketing, and artist P&L information for all domestic and international priority album releases.
Who you are:
• Bachelor's degree with concentration in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
• Generally, minimum 8-10 years of business experience in financial analysis or accounting role
• Music/Entertainment industry experience preferred
• Ideal candidate has a working knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting
• Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, etc.) and proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• SAP/Business Objects /IP/BPC experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to work well in a collaborative, team oriented environment
• Disciplined self-starter
• Rigorous attention to detail and excellent time management skills
