Role purpose:
Senior level role within eOne UK with responsibility for leading theatrical publicity function across all UK & Eire film releases.
In this role, your accountabilities and responsibilities are…
• Key member of the UK Theatrical Management team, required to provide insight and publicity perspective to all aspects of the UK & Eire operation, including box office targets, film acquisition opportunities and P&A spend recommendations
• Work closely and collaboratively with the EVP Global Film Marketing and publicity and marketing colleagues in other eOne territories to ensure an aligned strategy and roll out across all shared titles
• Ensure comprehensive input and feedback on all aspects of publicity during the lifecycle of the film release to the Head of Theatrical Distribution and EVP Global Film Marketing on a regular basis
• Responsibility for the Publicity budget within the overall P&A budget, working alongside fellow Heads of Department to ensure accurate forecasting, management and delivery of this across every release
• Primary management and day to day responsibility for the Press and PR function of the UK theatrical distribution company; with a focus on providing the best possible coverage for the films released, both as individual campaigns and as an overall portfolio
• Work closely and collaboratively with the UK Head of Theatrical Marketing to ensure an aligned strategic approach and integrated tactical delivery across every campaign
• Constantly acquiring knowledge and challenging those around to push the boundaries on each release and to stimulate fresh and relevant ideas and break out opportunities
• Inspirational leadership of the publicity team, providing direction, guidance, motivation and coaching to ensure goals are achieved
• Recruitment, onboarding retention, appraisals
• Management of external agencies as required
• Work closely with talent and film-makers to leverage their collateral in every which way possible to ensure all film gains prominence
• Operational control of all UK PR activities including (but not limited to) junkets, premieres, unit, stunts etc
• Ensuring optimum positioning of Entertainment One within the editorial based media within the strategy and direction of film campaigns and coverage
• Ensuring comprehensive and quality, non-paid for coverage for film releases across all media
• Accurate assessment of coverage levels and overall critical reaction at the earliest possible stage of the distribution process
• Development and maintenance of strong relationships with key journalists, editors, critics across all media
• Responsible for driving overall press screening strategy across all films
• Responsibility for circulating publicity strategy documents and updates to key stakeholders both internally and externally
• Strong relationship and communications with Corporate Publicity team to ensure excellent crisis communications management where necessary
To do this role, you will have…
• Thorough understanding of theatrical publicity and distribution with strong film and market knowledge
• Successful track record in high profile, event-level publicity, experience on campaigns with large budgets
• Strong leadership skills and proven managerial experience of a small-medium sized team
• Strong Public Relations (PR) skills and ability to identify opportunities from all possible angles
• Near encyclopaedic knowledge of all media outlets relevant to film including excellent understanding of digital and social opportunities
• Strong relationships with the individuals and companies which comprise the editorial based media landscape in the UK both on an offline
• Proven strengths in identifying and implementing publicity activations across social media/with influencers and in creating cultural moments
• First class ability to manage timelines and team to ensure all deadlines are met to serve the best interests of the company and films
• Ability to be innovative in assembling PR campaigns, with continuing ability to ''surprise'' colleagues
• Ability to construct and manage budgets accurately and cost-efficiently
• Ability to multitask and prioritise a busy workload
• Strategic thinker able to think through strategy both across and beyond individual film releases; being continuously aware of the bigger picture
• Knowledge of overall PR competencies pertaining to the general consumer arena
• Excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong Excel, Word, PPT etc. skills
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
