Job Description

Key Responsibilities
• Draft a variety of agreements, including scripted development and acquisition (literary material option/purchase, assignment, life rights, spec scripts, etc.) and ATL and BTL talent (writer, director, producer, actor, crew, production companies, etc.) agreements.
• Assist in the negotiation of literary option and writer agreements.
• Research and prepare deal summaries for completed deals and update/maintain each project's ATL deal summary and chain-of-title charts.
• Research and prepare summaries for deal-related questions from Business and Legal Affairs, Finance, Production, Distribution and Creative teams.
• Assist with rights management.
• Assist in the oversight of current television and made-for-new media productions.
• Supervise credits process for productions to ensure compliance with studio precedent, contract, and guild requirements.
• Various special projects and other work as required to support the Global TV Business and Legal Affairs team.

Key Competencies
• Member in good standing of California Bar (RIHC accepted) and JD from accredited law school.
• 3+ years of television business and legal affairs experience, preferably at a production company, studio or entertainment law firm.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills with an ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and work under deadline.
• Developed negotiation skills with a problem solving and collegial approach.
• Familiarity with guild-related matters.
• Familiarity with industry trends and standards.
