Reports To: Production HUB Assets Production Manager and Surfacing Assets Supervisor

At DreamWorks Animation Television, our Asset Artist (Surfacing) is responsible for reviewing Partner Studio(s) surfacing stage submissions during episodic for characters, props and environments and for crafting textures and shader set-ups during in-house prebuilds. The Asset Artist (Surfacing) ensures that all deliverables align with the production's schedule, technical specifications and creative vision of the series.

''What would you say you do here?''
• Review Partner Studio(s) shader set-ups and provide notes and direction to help optimize them for efficiency and to match the overall look of the show
• Ensure that assets are high quality while staying within the production's parameters, pipeline and schedule
• Provide recommendations and suggestions for designs that adhere to the production's schedule
• Review and provide noted direction on assets submitted by our Partner Studio(s)
• Work closely with Partner Studio(s) to ensure all surfacing work adheres to the creative and technical specifications of the production while ensuring scheduled deadlines are met
• Update Surfacing submitted by Partner Studio(s) as needed
• Perform texture painting and setup shader networks for CG characters, props, and sets using Maya, Mari, Substance Painter and Photoshop. In-House asset creation is seasonal in the TV division and will constitute approximately 20% of the yearly workload for this position
• Serve as Asset point person in show specific meetings and reviews when needed
• May work directly with the Global VFX Supervisor on asset look development for upcoming shows
• Provide regular feedback regarding tasks and schedule to the HUB Line Producer and Production Manager

Desired Characteristics

''What can I offer?''
• At least 5 years of experience in television animation, feature animation, VFX, and/or video games
• Ideal candidates will be able to provide surfacing/texture samples
• Experience with asset management software, Shotgun preferred
• Experience working with international Partner Studio(s) is a plus
• Bachelor's degree preferred
